About this file
This document contains a Request for Information (RFI) regarding a federal construction project and the corresponding federal contract opportunity. The RFI seeks clarification on the type of glass to be used for window details in the renovation of approximately 4,200 square feet of vacated Audiology and ENT clinic space in Building 1W at the Ann Arbor VA Medical Center. The contractor is asked to review existing adjacent glazing and match the reflectance and thermal U-value. The related federal contract opportunity is for the complete renovation of the space, including structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical and interior design work, to result in complete and usable spaces. The period of performance is 180 calendar days from receipt of the notice to proceed, with work likely commencing in fall 2020 at the work site in Building 1W of the Ann Arbor VA Medical Center. The soliciting agency is the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 10.

INFORMATION NEEDED:
We are looking to find information on which glass is being used for the window details shown on AI600. The floor plans would indicate there are no walls behind these windows thus it would not be spandrel glass (IG-1).Thus, would it be (IG-2) low-e clear vision insulated glass, (IG-3) low-e opaque vision glass, or a mixture of both?
Please advise.
Spandrel glass should not be needed. Opaque glass should not be needed. Contractor to review existing adjacent glazing used and match existing reflectance and thermal U value; refer to specifications for further detail.
