About this file

This document is a Request for Information (RFI) for a VA medical facility construction project at the C.W. Bill Young VAMC in Bay Pines, Florida. The project involves site preparation for an Emergency Department CT Scanner replacement in Building 100, encompassing approximately 790 square feet of renovation and construction. Key scope includes removing and replacing CT scanner equipment in room 1E-210, adding lead-lined walls, and supporting new equipment with structural modifications to the first-floor interstitial framing. The project is valued between $500,000 and $1,000,000, with a solicitation issued on 10/01/2025 and quotes originally due on 11/03/2025, though subsequent amendments have extended the deadline to 12/15/2025.

The RFI contains 87 detailed questions and responses covering critical technical aspects such as structural support, medical equipment relocation, infection control requirements (Class 4 ICRA), lead shielding specifications, utility connections, and coordination parameters for working in an active healthcare environment. Responses address specific contractor inquiries about equipment installation, temporary barriers, working hours, fire safety, power connections, and project logistics. The VA will require specific documentation including Past Performance Questionnaires, and has detailed requirements for project personnel, including separate roles for Superintendent, Safety Officer (SSHO), and Quality Control (QA/QC) personnel. The project involves significant coordination with existing medical operations and requires careful phasing to minimize disruption to the Emergency Department.
