GENERAL

1.0.The project will involve a partial renovation of floor and wall surfaces, throughout an area just over 3,200 square feet of flooring, and just over 6,400 square feet of wall surfaces. Existing metal studs in stud walls and existing concrete floor slab will remain and serve as support for new flooring and wall finishes. This project includes but is not limited to, performing this renovation WHILE THE RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT IS IN FULL OPERATION SERVING PATIENTS. Therefore work shall be phased in closures per the Phasing Plan in the project drawings, for the basement level of Building 2A. For all other areas work may be performed at the contractor’s discretion outside of the periods that phased work is performed. All work shall be performed evenings and overnight after 4:30 pm and areas outside of closed phases shall be restored each morning prior to 6:00 am. Significant mob and de-mob costs are expected to be a part of the Contractor’s proposal due to phasing over multiple small phases and nightly deep cleaning / terminal cleaning that is the Contractor’s responsibility. This is dictated by the fact the Radiology department is not shutting down. In addition, significant costs for installation and maintenance of ICRA mitigation for dust generating activities will be experienced by the Contractor performing the work.
2.0Work involves demolition in a medical facility environment, gyp board wall installation and painting, flooring material installation in several layers (moisture barrier, leveling course, and finish flooring), as well as installation of a stud-backed handrail and bumper with sheet goods wall protection. The construction time allocated for completion of the work (Base Bid), as described above, is 360 calendar days from notice to proceed (NTP) by the VA. Note this time includes time allotted for submittals and can therefore be expected to be 270 days or less of actual construction tasks. Award is subject to the availability of funds.
