3 SITE SPECIFICATIONS
3.1 Treatment Room
3.1.1 Overview
General Information
The ExacTrac system shall only be installed in a bunker for medical radiotherapy accelerators that has a stable foundation. Keep vibrations to a minimum since they influence the accuracy of the tracking system.
Exposure to high neutron radiation can lead to recurring malfunction and permanent damage to computer hardware and electronic components. For sites where patients will be treated with energies 10 MV or higher, do not place the computer cabinet in the treatment room as it is not designed for exposure to high neutron radiation.
The system must not be exposed to humid environment. Humidity can destroy the system and can lead to short circuits.
The ExacTrac system is not designed for use in areas where there is a danger of explosion.
Moreover, the system must not be placed close to flammable materials, such as volatile anesthetics, detergents or endogenous gases. Observe local regulations to avoid explosive gas mixtures forming during usage and cleaning.
Ensure that the tracking volume of the ExacTrac infrared camera system is not reduced/modified by other devices after the ExacTrac system has been accepted.
Do not install the ceiling mount and device mount in the direct airflow of an air conditioning or heating system.
Do not install any of the electronic components described in this site planning manual (e.g., monitors, cabinets, warning lights, distribution boxes) in the area of the linac’s primary beam.

3.2 Cabling
3.2.1 Overview
General Information
Position all components so that you can use the shortest cable whenever possible.
Determine the correct length of X-ray tube power cable necessary to connect the X-ray generator to the X-ray tubes. Calculate an extra 3 m for the cabling within the X-ray generator to avoid too much tension between the cables and the circuit points.
In most hospitals, conduits are required for ExacTrac cables due to hospital and local electrical regulations and laws. Below is a table listing the requirements for these conduits.
NOTE: Brainlab does not require you to store ExacTrac cables within conduits. However, some of the supplied cables are not plenum rated. Therefore, it may be necessary for some customers to install all cables within conduits.
You are responsible for obtaining installation permits with respect to applicable local or regional standards. This might affect cable routes, mains power and data cables specifications, connection to potential equalization and where you install system components.
Be aware that fire protection engineering aspects (plenum rating) may be affected when installing cables and system components. Install cable conduits and cables so that they are not a tripping hazard and the cables will not be damaged.

1) The cabling from the computer cabinet to the in-room power box and the flat panels can be placed together in a single 100 mm conduit.
2) Depending on system configuration, one or two cables are required.
3) A 130 mm conduit is required from generator 1 to floor box 1 (labeled “a”) and from generator 2 to floor box 2 (labeled “b”). If generators 1 and 2 are positioned directly next to each other, it is possible to place both X-ray tube cables into a single conduit. In this case, separate the high voltage cables from the data cables.

3.5 Heat Dissipation
Calculation
The calculations used to determine the heat dissipation are based on the following:
• 1000 BTU/h = 293 W
• 1 W = 3.412 BTU/h
X-Ray Dual Generator and Tubes
In stand-by mode, the heat dissipation for the X-ray dual generator and tubes is approximately 250 W (853 BTU/h).
For air condition layout, use 400 W (1365 BTU/h): 100 W for each generator (2 in total) plus 100 W for each tube (2 in total) = 400 W.
Computer Cabinet and All System Components
Measured: 406 W (1386 BTU/h) For air condition layout, use: 500 W (1706 BTU/h)

Safety Notes
It is mandatory to get approval and/or clearance from a stress analyst before cutting the floor box recesses, as building statics will change.
In case the linac is already installed, ensure that the linac base frame is not damaged during recess construction.
Until the floor box is installed, the empty pit must be marked with warning signs or covered.
The aluminum cover must rest on stable (concrete) floor minimum with 10 mm.
All dimensions for positioning floor boxes are based on an isocenter height of 1295 mm +/- 20 mm (finished floor line – isocenter).
The exact value depends on the linac type. Please refer to the respective documentation. If the vertical isocenter position is not within the tolerance range, please contact Brainlab.

ExacTrac requires the same minimum ceiling height as the linac gantry. If the height of the concrete ceiling is lower than the minimum height required for the linac gantry, contact Brainlab support.
Special Height Requirements
For concrete ceilings higher than the allowed maximum height, additional construction is required to maintain the following maximum mounting heights (measured from the finished floor):
Component Maximum Height
Ceiling mount for monitor arm 4250 mm
Ceiling mount for flat panels 5270 mm
Component Minimum Height Maximum Height
Suspended ceiling 2700 mm 3100 mm
In case of closed mono block suspended ceilings, service openings to access ceiling mounts must be provided.
Suspended ceilings should be no higher than the recommended maximum height (3100 mm), otherwise you must cover all visible parts of the ceiling mounts.
The minimum construction height (clearance between concrete ceiling and interface plate) of the ExacTrac ceiling mounts is 150 mm. If any parts of the ceiling mounts are visible due to suspended ceiling setup, you are responsible for covering these.
Introduction
48 Site Planning Manual Rev. 1.0 ExacTrac Ver. 6.x
The minimum plenum height (clearance between concrete ceiling and suspended ceiling) of the in-room distribution box is 175 mm, although 240 mm are recommended for optimal service access.

mm. For an isocenter height of 1245 mm, the maximum height of the interface plate above the finished floor is 3245 mm.
Rope Tighteners
Use rope tighteners to apply proper tension to the ropes if vertical bars (l > 80 mm) are used for ceiling mount installation.
