About this file
This document is a Pre-Proposal Request for Information (RFI) for the Upgrade Fire Alarm System project at the Canandaigua VA Medical Center. The RFI, associated with Contract No. 36C24225B0037, was submitted on 6/26/2025 and addresses key technical questions about the project scope. The project involves upgrading fire alarm systems for 11 specific buildings, including replacing existing fire alarm control panel modems with new network cards and audio controllers to establish an addressable fire alarm system that meets the latest code requirements.
The RFI includes responses from the VA clarifying three main points: (1) drawing size can be adjusted by changing print settings, (2) the project involves upgrading existing Simplex 4100U fire alarm control panels with new network components, and (3) the project is limited to the 11 specified buildings with no planned communication with buildings in future phases. The overall project aims to improve the existing fire alarm infrastructure, including upgrading devices, replacing connectors, connecting AEDs to the fire alarm system, and performing necessary abatement work in Building 4.
