Project: Building 1 Renovation, Veteran Affairs Medical Center, Bay Pines, Florida
Solicitation Number: 36C10F20R0043
Amendment #4
1. Reference Drawing FP001:
a. FIRE SPRINKLER ZONE INFORMATION, LEVEL O: Delete the following note in its entirety
“ZONE 0- SPRINKLER SYSTEM TO REMAIN” and replace with the following “ZONE 0 –The fire protection mains located in the basement and crawl space areas of Areas A and B to and from the fire pump shall be replaced and the old system shall be removed once new systems are commissioned. This shall include the replacement of the existing sprinklerb zone in the basement of Area B, including the zone valve, flow switch and drain/test piping.
The basement of Area B is identified as Room 02-103 on Drawing LS100.”
b. FIRE SPRINKLER ZONE INFORMATION, LEVEL 3: Delete the following note in its entirety “Install new fire sprinkler for the entire floor” and replace with the following “Install new fire sprinkler for the entire floor, to include the mezzanine level in area B.”.
2. Reference Drawing FP100, Level 0:
a. All fire protection piping, and system components shown and noted on this drawing shall be new. Existing fire protection piping in Areas A and B shall be removed once new fire protection system is installed and commissioned. Reference Drawing PD 100A and PD 100B for existing fire protection piping to be removed and replaced. This requirement supersedes any notes stating that existing fire protection system and system components are to remain.
b. In reference to Key Note 12, Existing crawl space flow, tamper switch and piping in Area B shall be replaced including associated piping.
c. All standpipes and FDV risers shall have a supervised valve with a flow switch whether shown or not shown the contract documents.
d. All piping shall be supported by engineered steel supports to transfer pipe loads to the building columns. This is applicable to all piping in the crawl spaces and basement of Building 1. No piping shall be supported from structure above.
e. Eliminate note 7 “Replaced existing fire sprinkler/standpipe feed main in the crawl space.
This is only applicable to the piping on the pump discharge side. Suction side or piping from the backflow preventer are not to be replaced” in its entirety and replace with the following “All piping shown on this drawing is new including backflow preventer. Existing piping shall be removed. “
f. Eliminate General Note 3 “Other than the piping shown existing sprinkler piping shall remain.” In its entirety and replace with “All existing piping in the crawl space and basement areas shall be removed after new system is commissioned.”
3. Reference Drawing FP603:
a. Points of connection identified on riser diagram are to be omitted since all piping shown on the drawing is new including all components shown.
b. Provide points of connection within +/- 3 feet from wall where fire line enters the crawl space of Area A and at the connecting corridor at the north end of Area A crawl space which provides fire protection for Building 22.
4. In Reference Drawing FP605, Detail 1:
a. Detail 1/FP605 shall be implemented only at concrete beams that transfer load directly to the concrete columns. Drilling into underside of slab or into the slab pan beams will not be permitted.
5. Reference Drawing FP103:
a. Remove and replace existing sprinkler piping located In Area B at the mezzanine level, located at approximate column line J/11. Reference Drawing MDH 102B for location of this area which is identified as Plan “2” on the drawing.
6. Reference Drawing FP603:
a. Add the following General Sheet Note “All piping on this drawing shall be new, including all system components. Points of connection shall be within +/- 3 feet from wall where main fire line enters the crawl space of Area A and at the north end of Area A crawl space leading to Building 22.”
7. Reference Specification Section 21 10 00, paragraph 1.1-C and in regard to existing piping, all existing piping shall be removed and replaced and shall not be reused. The existing fire protection piping located on the first floor areas, i.e. canteen retail store, kitchen, serving areas, dining areas, and existing mechanical rooms in occupied in Area A are to remain in place, with the exception of the riser serving these areas including supervisory valve, flow switch and drain piping which shall be replaced. All fire protection piping in Area B shall be removed and replaced.
8. Reference Drawing FP 001 General Sprinkler Note 19 which states “Only steel pipe with a corrosion resistance ratio (CRR) of one (1) or greater shall be used. Schedule 5 and 10 pipes is not permitted.
All piping shall be a minimum of Schedule 40.” This requirement shall supersede all specifications reference in regard to fire protection piping thicknesses unless referenced NFPA codes are more stringent, and the more stringent requirements shall be provided under this contract.
9. Reference Specification 21 13 13, paragraph 2.1-B.3, plastic piping for drain piping is not allowed.
10. Reference specification page 23 73 00-9, paragraph D; Delete requirement to paint galvanized steel
AHUs.
11. Reference Drawing FA106, Fire Alarm Plan for the Attic Space:
a. Provide a wall mounted speaker / strobe in new mechanical room designated as 6A-603.
12. Reference Drawing FA100:
a. Replace supervisory (TS) and flow switches (FS) for Area B zone (at column line H/13 vicinity), and at fire main entering crawl space in Area A (at column line A/15 vicinity).
13. Reference Drawing FA101:
a. Provide new tamper and flow switches at main fire line entering crawl space and for basement fire zone in Area B.
14. Reference Drawings FA105, FA104, FA103:
a. Provide a speaker / strobe in the existing bathrooms west of existing center stair No. 1
(Rooms 939, 734 and 508).
15. Reference Drawing FA106:
a. Provide speaker / strobe in new mechanical room which is designated as Room 6A-603.
16. Reference Drawing TN106-A:
a. Provided WALL MOUNTED 1-PORT VOICE OUTLET. PROVIDE (1) CAT6A CABLE FOR VOICE.
MOUNT OUTLET, 48" AFF at new mechanical room designated as room 6A-603.
17. Reference Drawing PD 100A, PD 101A and PD 101B:
a. Existing condensate piping from first floor air handling units shall remain in service. Any reference to the removal of this condensate piping per demolition notes for existing air handling units located on the first floor is to be omitted.
18. Reference Drawing PD 106A (Attic):
a. Existing 4-inch vent located in corridor between Rooms A604 and A602 shall be removed and replaced with new piping to allow the installation of new ductwork in this corridor.
Route condensate from existing elevator machine room AC unit to new floor drain in Room A603.
19. Reference Drawing PL 100A:
a. In reference to Construction Notes regarding the support of piping from structure above, all piping shall be supported from engineered steel supports to transfer pipe loads to the building columns and shall not be supported from structure above. This is applicable to all piping in the crawl spaces and basement of Building 1.
20. Reference Drawing PL 100B:
a. Reference Construction Note 9: Provide engineered steel supports for all piping to support piping to transfer loads to building columns. Piping shall not be supported from structure above. This applies to all pipe supports in the crawl space and basement of Building 1.
b. Reference Construction Note 11: Referenced water meters shall be connecting to the new building management system (BMS) as noted. This work shall be coordinated with the controls sub-contractor and provided whether this work is shown on the HVAC controls point schedule or not. All required conduit, wiring and required interfaces shall be provided and installed under this contract.
21. Reference Drawing PL 101B:
a. In mechanical room 1B-113, provide a P-709 emergency eye and face wash specified in Specification 22 40 00, paragraph 2.11-B. Installation shall include all necessary piping and accessories including back flow preventor.
22. Reference Drawing PL 103A:
a. Provide 4-inch sanitary piping from floor drain to sanitary pipe riser (Note 5) in Room 31-332
(south mechanical room).
23. Reference Drawing PL 105A:
a. Change Note 9 pipe size from 3” SS to 4” SS to accommodate 4” FD-E shown on drawing.
b. In reference to Sanitary Isometric Diagram on Drawing PP 801, revise sanitary piping serving all mechanical room floor drains to 4-inches from pipe riser sizes shown. If riser is not shown, sanitary sewer risers serving mechanical room floor drains shall be 4-inches.
24. Reference Drawing PL 106A:
a. Connect the 4” Type FD-E floor drains shown in the mechanical rooms to the sanitary sewer piping to provide a working system including venting of the floor drains.
b. In reference to room identified as Room 6A-603 Existing Storage, provide a 4” FD-E type floor drain in this room and connect to nearest sanitary sewer piping and provide required venting. Construction Notes 8 and 11 on Drawing PL 106A apply to this floor drain.
Coordinate location of floor drain with mechanical subcontractor and mechanical room layout on Drawing M403 to accommodate condensation form air handling unit.
25. Reference Drawings PP 701 and PP702:
a. Provide lockable drain valves at medical gas risers that are noted on drawing.
26. Reference Specifications 01 35 26, paragraph 1.4 (ACCIDENT PREVENTION PLAN (APP), 01 35 26, paragraph 1.21 (CONFINED SPACE ENTRY):
a. All work being performed in Building 1, Area A crawl space shall be considered as work being performed in a confined space.
27. Reference Drawing M 502, Detail 7; drilling into the concrete floor beam as shown is not acceptable.
Drilling into other locations noted on the detail, with restrictions specified, is acceptable.
28. Reference Details 6 and 11 on drawing M 501:
a. Provide flexible connections at all pipe to coil connections as shown on chilled water and hot water heating pipe risers on Drawings M701 and M702.
29. Reference Drawing M 802:
a. Add water meters referenced on Drawing PL 101A to “DIVISION 22 POINTS LIST”.
30. Reference Drawing M 803:
a. Provide an additional Differential Pressure Sensor for heating hot water system, for a total of three (3), on points schedule as referenced in Sequence of Operation for the system.
31. Reference Drawing SS103-B:
a. Provide closure of opening on top of existing elevator shaft after 24”X24” duct is removed per Drawing AD103B Note D32. Infill at opening shall be per Detail 5/SS301.
32. Reference Drawing AE100A and AE102E:
a. Note on Drawing AE100A added by Addendum 1 under the east entry into Building 1 which states: “IN THIS AREA- REMOVE FIREPROOFING AND INSPECT EXISTING STEEL BEAMS FOR
CORROSION. WHERE RUST IS OBSERVED REMOVE AND IF SECTIONS LOSS OF THE STEEL
BEAM IS GREATER THAN 20% THEN REPLACE STEEL BEAM IN KIND. RE-FIREPROOF STEEL
AFTER INSPECTION AND REPAIR IS COMPLETE.” This applies to the west entrance of Building 1 on Drawing AE100B in the vicinity of Column N.5/11.5 and not to the east entrance.
33. Replace specification 010000-1.17.M.5 with the following - “Daily janitorial services by a professional cleaning service to include sweeping, mopping, restroom cleaning and dusting.
34. Add the following statement to the beginning of 010000-9.H Phasing “All references in this section to additional or temporary work are included as part of the contract and are required to the complete the contract scope. They are not cause for a change order or addition to the contract price.”
35. Delete the following paragraph from page 010000-1.6.H, last paragraph (page 010000-9) “The cost of the phased construction needs to address the duplication of MEP systems and the commissioning of the operating system. Not only are the systems redundant between new and existing but the commissioning effort portion of the work to ensure those systems are operating per designed criteria is also a redundant effort not only for the various phases but also for the total , final building operating system.”
36. Delete the following paragraph from 010000-1.6.H Phase 1 (page 010000-10), “The proposed phasing and continued use of building during construction will involve periodic shutdowns and disruption in utility service which can be scheduled during off hours, but this comes with an additional price” and replace with the following paragraph “The proposed phasing and continued use of building during construction will involve periodic shutdowns and disruption in utility service may require scheduling during off hours. This off hours work is necessary per the contract scope and is not cause for a contract change or additional cost.”
37. Delete the following paragraph from 010000-1.6.H Phase 2 (page 010000-10), in its entirety “Phasing this large scale renovation project further will not be required since the design intent is for the construction manager to have access to floor 2 through 5 at the same time, and the construction will be handled in one phase. Based on analysis of the existing systems and proposed new floor plan layouts, the following additional work is required beyond the construction effort involved if this building were completely shut-down during interior alterations.”
38. Reference attached revised security drawing set, to include TY001, TY100, TY101, TY102, TY103, TY104, TY105, TY106, TY301, TY302, TY303 & TY304, drawing date 8/7/20, as revisions to the bid set drawings of the same number. Reference the attached drawing TY010 as an addition to the bid set drawings.
39. Reference attached drawings EP 100A, EP 100B & EP 603. As revisions to bid set drawings of the same number.
40. Reference the attached picture of main IT/Telephone closet 1A-122.
41. Reference Drawing TN-103A. Provide a wall mounted nurse call master station, label NM, on corridor 31-C10 between rooms 31-349 and 31-350.
