| # | Reference | Question | Answer |
| 105 | PWS, Section B.2, IAAMS PRICE AND BILLING REQUIREMENTS, 5.2.3 IaaMS CAPACITY REQUIREMENTS, 5.2.3.1 DATA EFFICIENCY | Clarify whether Government requires the successful Offeror to measure VistA data residing on disk. | The Contractor shall measure actual capacity used on disk after data efficiency technologies (including deduplication) have been applied. For example, if VA transmits a 100GB file to the storage system and the file consumes 80GB of disk space following deduplication, the Contractor shall bill VA for 80GB of consumed space. The Contractor shall not bill VA for additional space required to meet RAID parity overhead, erasure coding overhead, or other redundancy requirements. |
| 106 | PWS, Section B.2, IAAMS PRICE AND BILLING REQUIREMENTS, 5.2.3 IaaMS CAPACITY REQUIREMENTS, 5.2.3.1 DATA EFFICIENCY | Clarify if the Government intends Offerors to measure used capacity from the server or from the storage array. | The Contractor shall measure used capacity from the storage array after data efficiency technologies have been applied. |
| 107 | PWS, Section B.2, IAAMS PRICE AND BILLING REQUIREMENTS, 5.2.3 IaaMS CAPACITY REQUIREMENTS, 5.2.3.1 DATA EFFICIENCY | Clarify how the Government intends Offerors to calculate or measure “used capacity”, “unused and available capacity” and “currently used capacity.” | a. Used Capacity – The Contractor shall measure actual capacity used on disk after data efficiency technologies have been applied, exclusive of redundancy impacts. The Contractor shall not bill VA for any data capacity that is reduced through the use of data efficiency technologies. The Contractor shall not bill VA for additional space required to meet RAID parity overhead, erasure coding overhead, or other redundancy requirements. |
b. Unused and Available Capacity – “Unused and available capacity” is any writeable capacity that exists on disk that is available for use by VA. This calculation shall not include any anticipated data efficiency savings.
| c. | Currently Used Capacity – This is identical to “used capacity”. | |||
| 108 | PWS, Section B.2, IAAMS PRICE AND BILLING REQUIREMENTS, 5.2.3 IaaMS CAPACITY REQUIREMENTS, 5.2.3.1 DATA EFFICIENCY | Clarify how and to what extent “unused and available capacity” and “currently used capacity” are dependent on data deduplication. | Unused and available capacity is any writeable capacity that exists on disk that is available for use by VA. The Contractor shall not include anticipated data efficiency savings in making this calculation. | |
| 109 | PWS, Section B.2, IAAMS PRICE AND BILLING REQUIREMENTS, 5.2.3 IaaMS CAPACITY REQUIREMENTS, 5.2.3.1 DATA EFFICIENCY | Clarify the Government requires the deduplication of redundant data, but the Contractor’s calculations shall not include data deduplication when calculating/measuring used capacity, minimum usable capacity, or currently used capacity. | a. The Government requires deduplication of redundant data as specified in PWS section 5.2.3.1. |
b. Used Capacity – The Contractor shall measure actual capacity used on disk after data efficiency technologies have been applied, exclusive of redundancy impacts. The Contractor shall not bill VA for any data capacity that is reduced through the use of data efficiency technologies. The Contractor shall not bill VA for additional space required to meet RAID parity overhead, erasure coding overhead, or other redundancy requirements.
c. “Minimum usable capacity” shall be calculated based upon the actual useable capacity on disk. The Contractor shall not include anticipated data efficiency savings in making this calculation.
d. “Currently used capacity” is identical to “used capacity”.
