About this file
This is a technical specification document for sanitary pressure sewer piping prepared by Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc. for the North Earl Street Low Pressure Sanitary Sewer Extension Project (Project No. 011361.0461) being procured by the Weaverland Valley Authority in Pennsylvania. The specification outlines requirements for furnishing and installing approximately 270 linear feet of 2-inch low-pressure sanitary sewer main via directional drilling, approximately 100 linear feet of 1.5-inch lateral piping, one 5-foot diameter cleanout manhole, epoxy lining of two existing sanitary sewer manholes, and associated appurtenances. The document details materials and installation standards for polyethylene piping, polyvinyl chloride piping, stainless steel/HDPE transition fittings, curb stop valves, PVC ball valves, valve boxes, bedding and cover materials, and air release valves. Installation must comply with referenced ASTM International and AASHTO standards including ASTM D3035 for polyethylene pipe installation, ASTM D1785 for PVC pipe, and ASTM D2321 for underground thermoplastic pipe installation. The specification requires pressure testing per Section 33 05 05.31 (Hydrostatic Testing), inspection prior to and immediately after bedding placement, and field quality control testing. Bedding material must be AASHTO No. 8 aggregate with a minimum 12-inch compacted thickness over pipe, and backfilling must proceed according to trenching specifications outlined in Section 31 23 16.13.
The specification establishes technical requirements for pipe materials including PE 4710 polyethylene pipe with 200 psig pressure rating complying with ASTM D3035 DR-11, Schedule 80 PVC pipe complying with ASTM D1785, and various fittings meeting AWWA C901 and ASTM standards. Bidders must submit manufacturer product data, certificates of compliance, installation instructions, and field quality control test results. All materials must be delivered in original manufacturer packaging, inspected for damage, and stored in clean, dry locations according to manufacturer instructions without stacking higher than recommended limits. The contractor is responsible for all construction work including excavation, bedding placement, pipe installation, valve installation, valve box installation, backfilling, compaction, pressure testing, and protection of materials from damage or displacement. No pricing terms, set-asides, incumbent contractors, or specific funding amounts are addressed in this technical specification document, which serves as the detailed construction requirements section of the broader project bidding documents available through PennBid.
