About this file
This is a technical specification document for Section 260583 - Wiring Connections, part of the 25-388 CBI HVAC and Lighting Upgrade project. The specification establishes requirements for electrical connections to equipment and related wiring systems. The scope includes flexible conduit connections, cord and plug connections using NEMA 6-20R receptacles, and field-installed disconnect switches. Work must comply with referenced standards including NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NEMA WD 1 and WD 6 standards, and coordination with related sections covering low-voltage conductors, conduit systems, boxes, wiring devices, enclosed switches, and controllers. Contractors must obtain and review manufacturer's shop drawings, wiring diagrams, and instructions to determine proper connection locations and requirements before execution.
The specification establishes material and equipment standards requiring cords and caps compliant with NEMA WD 6 specifications and suitable for damp locations, with wire and cable sizing appropriate for connected loads and branch circuit overcurrent protection ratings. All electrical work must follow equipment manufacturer's instructions and comply with NFPA 70 standards. Connection execution requirements include using liquidtight flexible conduit with watertight connectors in damp or wet locations, installing strain-relief clamps and fittings for cord connections, and completing interconnecting conduit and wiring between devices. Terminal block jumpers, disconnect switches, controllers, and control stations must be installed to finalize equipment wiring requirements. No pricing, bid dates, award information, or contract terms are provided in this specification section.
