About this file
This is a Scope of Work specification document for Section 260505—Selective Demolition for Electrical, part of project 25-388 CBI HVAC and Lighting Upgrade. The document outlines requirements for electrical demolition work including the removal, relocation, and extension of existing electrical installations to accommodate new construction. Specific work includes disconnecting and removing electrical systems in walls, floors, and ceilings; removing abandoned wiring and conduit; disconnecting and removing abandoned outlets, panelboards, distribution equipment, and luminaires; and handling hazardous materials such as PCB-containing equipment, DEHP-containing ballasts, and mercury-containing lamps. The specification requires coordination with utility companies for service outages and mandates that contractors maintain existing electrical, fire alarm, and telephone systems in service during construction, with service outages minimized and occurring only during switchovers and connections.
The specification requires contractors to verify field measurements and existing conditions before beginning demolition work, reporting any discrepancies to the Owner and Architect. Contractors must obtain Owner permission at least 24 hours before disabling any systems and provide temporary wiring and connections to maintain service in adjacent areas. All work must comply with federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous materials, including the Federal Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Contractors are responsible for repairing any adjacent construction and finishes damaged during demolition and extension work, maintaining access to active electrical installations, and extending existing installations using compatible materials and methods. The document does not specify contract pricing, award dates, term duration, or renewal options.
