2. General
2.1. Introduction
This Aircraft Inspection Program has been established by the Aviation Operations Center (AOC) to meet the requirements of 14CFR §91.409(e), by selection of an inspection program in accordance with 14 CFR
§91.409(f) (4) and developed in accordance with 14 CFR §91.409(g), for use on ATR42-500 series aircraft operated under 14CFR part §91.501(b) (5). This program will be used by the Director of Maintenance, Contracted Maintenance Organizations, Maintenance Technicians, and others designated by the Director of Maintenance for performing scheduled inspections, and unscheduled inspections as required by adverse operational conditions. This inspection program provides for a means to ensure compliance with
Federal Regulations and to ensure continued airworthiness. All inspections under this program will be updated when completed by the DOM or their designee and tracked at the Aviation Operations Center.
Upon approval of this manual by the FAA, the Aviation Operations Center will identify the use of this manual in the maintenance records in accordance with 14CFR §91.409(f).
2.2. Duties and Responsibilities
• The Director of Maintenance (DOM) Christopher L. Cooper, is responsible for administering and revising the AIP as detailed in subsequent paragraphs and sections.
• Contracted Maintenance Technicians and Non-Certified Repair Organizations must reference applicable sections of the AIP prior to performing any inspection and assure compliance with all applicable sections prior to approving the aircraft for return to service.
• Contracted FAA Certified Repair Stations must reference applicable sections of the AIP prior to performing any inspection and assure compliance with all applicable sections prior to approving the aircraft for return to service. They shall also utilize the repair station’s work order and quality control system in accordance with the repair station’s procedures and quality control manuals.
2.3. Revision Control
Each copy of the program in manual (paper) form will be assigned and designated with a control number.
A master list containing the manual control number, location, and to whom the manual is assigned will be kept on file in the Technical Publications Library.
Electronic copies shall be maintained on company servers in un-editable formats. Upon approval by the
FSDO, the Director of Maintenance will scan the approved LEP’s and insert them into the electronic version.
All revisions will be submitted to the North Texas FSDO for approval.
It is the responsibility of the Director or Maintenance to ensure current revision.
ATR42 AIP Page 11 Revision 2 Dated 08/04/2022
Revisions to this manual will be identified by RED text.
In accordance with 14CFR §91.415 the Aviation Operations Center will revise this program when required.
The electronic manual is a read-only file which is not editable. If pages from the manual are printed, they are for reference only and must be verified for currency prior to use.
Hard copies of the manual shall be issued to the Aviation Operations Center, Cognizant FAA FSDO and
Director of Maintenance. All hard copy manuals shall be given a control number to denote the responsible manual holder. The Quality Manager or designee shall ensure all manuals are updated when revisions are approved.

AEROSPATIALE/ALENIA ATR42-500 MSN-549 N366FM
2.5. Adding New Aircraft
When the decision is made to acquire additional aircraft, the Aviation Operations Center will ensure that all appropriate steps are accomplished. These steps include:
• Evaluate aircraft configuration to determine compatibility with this Aircraft Inspection Program
(if configuration is incompatible, an individual AIP shall be developed)
• Perform a review current aircraft time, cycles and configuration (including major repairs and changes to type design).
• Review the current aircrafts inspection program for comparison to the ATR42 MRBR.
• Verify each component, inspection (hourly calendar and cycle based) and maintenance task for its last compliance and entered into Aviation Operations Center tracking system.
• Determine what inspections, maintenance, modifications and steps are required to “bridge” the aircraft to the approved AIP.
• Enter aircraft in section 2.3, and incorporate additional required changes of this manual and submit to the Flight Standards District office for approval.
2.6. Terms, Definitions and Abbreviations
Airworthy:
A. The aircraft must conform to its type design. Conformity to the type design is considered attained when the aircraft configuration and the engine, propeller, and articles installed are consistent with the drawings, specifications, and other data that are part of the TC. This includes any supplemental type certificate (STC) and repairs and alterations incorporated into the aircraft.
B. The aircraft must be in a condition for safe operation. This refers to the condition of the aircraft relative to wear and deterioration, for example, skin corrosion, window delamination/crazing, fluid leaks, and tire wear.

3. ATR42 Maintenance and Inspection Program
3.1. Program Description
This AIP has been developed based on the maintenance/inspection requirements as outlined in the following documents. This program ensures the continued airworthiness of the aircraft.
This Inspection program utilizes the Manufacturers recommendations located in the following manuals.
The Aviation Operations Center will maintain current subscriptions with the Manufacturers to ensure manual currency.
• ATR42-500 Maintenance Review Board Report (FAA Approved)
• ATR42-500 Time Limits Document (FAA Approved)
• ATR42-500 Low Utilization Recommendations
• ATR42-500 Maintenance Planning Document
• Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127 Maintenance Manual Airworthiness Limitations (FAA Approved)
• Hamilton Sundstrand Propeller Maintenance Manual Airworthiness Limitations (FAA Approved)
• Product Type Certificate Data Sheets
• Major Repair and Alteration Instructions for Continued Airworthiness
• 14CFR Requirements
The inspection tasks and repeat intervals specified in the ATR42-500 MRB Report and MPD together with the Time Limits document (Airworthiness Limitations - AWL/ Certification Maintenance Requirements -
CMR), constitute the maintenance instructions that the Manufacturers consider necessary to provide for the continued airworthiness of the airplane.
The Inspection program includes the following inspection systems:
• System Program provides specific tasks for each Maintenance Significant Item (MSI) of aircraft and powerplant systems.
• Structure Program defines the directed inspections for each Structural Significant item (SSI) developed through evaluation of their fatigue, environmental and accidental damage characteristics
• Zonal Program comprises of General Visual Inspections (GVI) of system installations and structure by aircraft zone.
