About this file

This file comprises construction drawings for a shoreline improvement project at Shoreline Elementary School in Whitehall District Schools located at 205 Market Street, Whitehall, Michigan 49461, prepared by Troyer Group (Project No. 26.007). The drawings are issued for construction documents as of September 30, 2026, and include a comprehensive site plan with sheets covering existing conditions, demolition and sediment/erosion control, site layout, grading, landscape improvements, and construction details. The project involves approximately 5,630 square feet of demolition including concrete sidewalk, curb, and aggregate base removal; tree removal and marking for field verification; sawcutting and removal of full-depth curb and gutter; and asphalt pavement removal. The site plan includes new concrete sidewalks and curbs, an expanded ADA parking area with restriping and signage at the east entrance, landscape beds totaling 3,400 square feet with 1,000 Little Bluestem plants in 3-inch pots spaced 24 inches on center, and approximately 4,200 square feet of hydroseeded disturbed areas. Roadway painting specifications include "Buses Only," "Do Not Enter," and "One Way" markings, plus surface-mounted safety bollards. The drawings establish a minimum compaction requirement of 95 percent Standard Proctor Density for structural areas and specify a lawn seed mix of 40 percent Kentucky bluegrass, 20 percent creeping red fescue, 20 percent annual ryegrass, and 20 percent perennial ryegrass at a rate of 5–6 pounds per 1,000 square feet.

Site Alternate 1 provides the option for seal coating and restriping the existing parking lot and bus drop-off lane totaling approximately 79,550 square feet, including crack sealing and surface cleaning prior to seal coating and restriping with white acrylic roadway paint to match the existing layout. The drawings emphasize contractor responsibilities for utility location through Michigan 811, field verification of existing conditions and elevations, daily disposal of removed materials, protection of existing conditions not marked for demolition, and establishment of turfgrass to 80 percent coverage during the establishment period. Grading operations must comply with local, state, and federal regulations; topsoil testing requirements specify a pH range of 6.0 to 7.0 with amendments incorporated into the top 4 inches of soil. All disturbed areas must be stabilized with seed, mulch, or approved methods within 7 days of achieving final grade. The project is subject to Part 91 of Michigan's Natural Resources Protection Act for sediment and erosion control requirements and includes inlet protection measures with inspection and maintenance protocols requiring weekly inspections and inspections within 24 hours of rain events exceeding 12 inches.
