About this file

The documents are technical specifications for the CVG North and South ARFF's (Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting) AFFF (Aqueous Film-Forming Foam) Systems Replacement project for the Kenton County Airport Board, located in Erlanger, Kentucky. The project involves replacing the existing fire suppression systems at the north and south airport fire stations, with work spanning multiple technical divisions including selective demolition, structural steel framing, pipe and tube railings, interior painting, fire suppression systems, electrical materials and methods, and electrical demolition. The technical specifications provide comprehensive details for contractors on materials, installation methods, product requirements, execution standards, and quality control measures for the complete system replacement.

The project specifications outline requirements for a 3% AFFF foam-water fire extinguishing system designed for flammable-liquid fires, with a minimum design density of 0.16 gpm/sq. ft., a minimum foam supply discharge time of 10 minutes, and a water supply minimum of 60 minutes. The system will utilize Solberg 3% MIL-SPEC SFFF foam concentrate, with components including storage tanks, pumps, proportioning controllers, and discharge devices. The electrical components will involve new conduits, wiring, safety switches, and identification systems, with specific requirements for installation, grounding, and testing. The project emphasizes compliance with national standards including NFPA, NEC, and UL requirements, and includes detailed provisions for equipment selection, installation methods, quality control, and system performance.
