About this file
This is a Lead Paint Survey Report for Building 1860 Roof Repairs at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, dated April 2, 2026. The Walker Group Architecture, Inc. was contracted by NRW Engineering to conduct lead-based paint sampling and analysis for the structure, which is scheduled for complete removal and replacement of the existing modified bitumen roof system. The survey was performed on February 10, 2026, by Christopher B. Walker, a North Carolina Accredited Lead Inspector (Certification #110239, expires August 31, 2026). Paint chip samples were collected from surfaces with visibly different paint colors and analyzed by EMSL Analytical, Inc. (AIHA ELLAP lab code 102564) using Flame AAS methodology (SW 846 3050B*/7420) in accordance with EPA 3050B/Modified/7000B and OSHA 29 CFR 1926.62 standards.
The survey identified one lead-based paint concern: gray exterior metal ladder coating at the exterior low-to-high roof ladder location, which tested intact with a lead concentration of 0.0984% by weight (lab results show 0.0954% and 0.0984% for samples Pb01 and Pb02 respectively), exceeding the EPA threshold of 0.5% wt for lead-based paint classification. The structure SAS189A is a nonactive outdoor shooting range comprising two wood and earth-filled berm walls and an overhead steel structure supporting an acoustical baffle system with integrated metal roof and bullet trap. Recommendations require that any demolition or renovation work disturbing lead-coated surfaces must comply with all Federal, State, and Local regulations and be conducted by workers trained in OSHA lead-safe practices. Additional suspect materials discovered during work should be presumed to contain lead-based paint until tested by a state-licensed inspector and accredited laboratory.

Asbestos Survey Building 1860 Roof Repairs
MCB Camp Lejeune
Lead Paint Survey
Project # 25-0004
Report Prepared By:
Christopher B. Walker The Walker Group Architecture, Inc
April 2nd, 2026 WGA Project No. – 2601.1860
Project Information
The Walker Group Architecture, Inc. was contracted by NRW Engineering to conduct a lead sampling survey for Building 1860 at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. The specified structure is slated for complete removal and replacement of the existing modified bitumen roof system. The survey was conducted to determine if building components were coated with lead-based paint.
Scope of Services
A. The survey was performed on 02/10/2026 by Christopher B. Walker (NC Accredited Lead Inspector #110239 expires August 31st, 2026. Samples were collected from areas defined by the scope of work.
Findings
A. The Walker Group Architecture collected paint chip samples from each surface visibly coated with a different color of paint and delivered them to EMSL Analytical, Inc. (AIHA ELLAP lab code no. 102564) for analysis for lead content by Flame AAS (SW 846 3050B*/7420) in accordance with EPA 3050B/Modified/7000B. OSHA 29 CFR
1926.62 defines any detectable level of lead in paint a concern when renovations/demolitions will impact lead coated surfaces.
B. The detection limit is determined by weight of the sample, which is typically 0.01%.
See attached Lab Results for additional information.
Building Description and Findings
Structure SAS189A is a nonactive outdoor shooting range. The structure comprises of (2) side wood and earth filled berm walls and an overhead steel structure that supports an acoustical baffle system. There is steel bullet trap with an integrated metal roof system. The walls are a combination of baffle system, and insulation on metal framing.

Recommendations
A. Any demolition/renovation work in which lead coated surfaces are disturbed must be in compliance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations. All work should be conducted by workers trained in "lead safe practices" as outlined by
OSHA.
B. If additional suspect materials are discovered during demolition/renovation, they should be classified presumed to contain lead-based paint until sampling by a state of North Carolina licensed Lead Inspector personnel and analysis by an Accredited and state of North Carolina licensed laboratory can be performed.
