Notes/Comments [8/25/2015 Jacobs - Manzar Rizvi]
1. Pipe sizes have been reduced from the construction documents. Pipe sizes are further reduced utilizing HOPE Piping. The smaller pipes are not acceptable.
2. The double wall HOPE piping is shown entering the boiler room without a transition sump. Typically, plastic pipe is not rated for above ground applications. Provide documentation that this transition piping is listed for this location.
3. Contractor to verify NPSHA will work with the installed fuel oil pumps and pipe layout. Consideration should be given to increasing the suction piping to the fuel polishing systems.

Comments :
Subcontractor seeks approval to use transition fittings, interior tray and leak detector in place of transition sumps. This is required because the cores into the ENC for the FOS piping are at an elevation of 5377'. This is almost 12 feet below finished grade between the ENC south wall and site wall in the ENC courtyard. This would require a 12-14' deep sump to access a transition outside of the building. This is neither safe, nor practical.

Note, this submittal replaces any prior submittal addressing the transition from UG to AG pipe and the related sumps / leak detection.

Electr-O-Fuze™ EF Fittings, UL971 Listed
Product Description
Electr-O-Fuze™ EF fittings are safe and reliable proven electrofusion technology using open wire principles. Electr-O-Fuze™ EF couplers are the only fittings used in petroleum industry to also be tested and approved for use with natural gas and low pressure gas, thus providing unparalleled quality and protection. When used in conjunction with Electr-O-Fuze™ pipe and an Electr-O-Fuze™ EF welding machine, it provides a UL971 compliant fuel installation with a 30 year life span.
Electr-O-Fuze™ EF fittings are available in sizes from ½” to 30” nominal bore. Elbows and Tees in sizes up to and including 6” are available as an electrofusion fitting, while larger sizes are only obtainable in spigot fittings, requiring an electrofusion coupler on either side of the fitting.
Applications o Service Stations o Marinas o Fuel Terminals o Moist & Marshy Areas o Refineries o Harbors o Airports o Non-Contaminated & Contaminated Sites o Fitting Type:
Matched electrofusion fittings are utilized throughout the pipeline system in order to join the various pieces. Deep sockets and ‘safe’ low voltage operation (42V), applied through dedicated ancillary equipment ensures maximum joint integrity. Fusion indicators monitor the joint melt pressure, while absolute security of the weld is ensured using the fittings bar code feature in conjunction with the fully automatic Electr-O-Fuze™ EF welding machine.
o Electrofusion Machine: Electr-O-Fuze™ EF welding machine with memory, bar code reader, printing and error reporting.
o Temperature Range: Fittings can be worked with at ambient temperatures between –24oF and 160oF.
o Pipe Fusion Range: The fittings can be fused to pipe of SDR stages 17.6 to 7.4 in accordance with DIN 8074 (E), ISO 4437, pr EN 1555 and DIN EN 12201 (E).
o Operating Pressures: 150 psi.
o Test Pressure: 232 psi.
o Approved Fuel Types: All Petroleum Products (Motor Vehicle Fuels, High Blend Fuels, Concentrated Fuels, Aviation & Marine Fuels) E85 and Biodiesel.
Installation Installation, use, and maintenance of all Electr-O-Fuze™ products shall be in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations, State and County approvals. In event of conflicts, the stricter requirement shall govern. AEP installation manual available directly from AEP, or at info@aep-inc.net. All operators to be AEP certified on both the fittings and electrofusion machine.

Fitting
Electr-O-Fuze™ Spigot Transition Fitting, UL971 Listed Product Description
Electr-O-Fuze™ Transition Fittings are safe, reliable and a proven method of connecting Electr-O-Fuze™ pipe to steel threaded parts. The transition fitting come in various different styles and sizes to suite the application. Two main styles are stock items namely the threaded transitions and the E-Z Fit. Both these are electro plated with a 12 inch hose tail as standard;
however the metal transition section can be made of Stainless Steel to order. Also made to order are transitions with longer hose tails, these can be made up to any length. A further advantage is that these fittings are completely fluorinated for maximum protection against hydrocarbons. Electr-O-Fuze™ Transition Fittings are also threaded both on the outside and inside for ease of application offering different options during installation. When used in conjunction with Electr-O-Fuze™ pipe and an Electr-O-Fuze™ EF welding machine, it provides a UL971 compliant fuel installation with a 30 year life span.
Electr-O-Fuze™ Transition Fitting is available in sizes 1¼”, 1½”, 2”, 3” and 4”nominal bore.
Applications o Service Stations o Marinas o Fuel Terminals o Moist & Marshy Areas o Refineries o Harbors o Airports o Non-Contaminated & Contaminated Sites o Fitting Type: Spigot ends to the transition allow easy matching to various electrofusion fittings such as couplers, tee’s and elbows among others throughout the pipeline system in order to join the various pieces. The long spigot allows length adjustment to the fitting for precise fitting, applied with dedicated ancillary equipment ensures maximum joint integrity. Absolute security of the weld is ensured using the system listed electrofusion fittings with the bar code feature in conjunction with the fully automatic Electr-O-Fuze™ welding machine. The transition Spigot is threaded both on the inside and outside with NPT thread for flexibility of use and is factory leak tested.
o Electrofusion Machine: None, Spigot Type.
o Temperature Range: Fittings can be worked with at ambient temperatures between –24oF and 160oF.
o Pipe Fusion Range: The fittings can be fused to pipe of SDR stages 17.6 to 7.4 in accordance with DIN 8074 (E), ISO 4437, pr EN 1555 and DIN EN 12201 (E).
