About this file

This document is a Product Evaluation Report issued by Building Drops, a Florida-based engineering firm, for Kawneer Company, Inc.'s TriFab 450 Aluminum Store Front & Entry System. The report, prepared by Professional Engineer Hermes F. Norero on September 1, 2020, details the product's compliance with the Florida Building Code, specifically for use in High Velocity Hurricane Zones (HVHZ). The evaluation report confirms the aluminum storefront system's performance standards through various testing methodologies, including ASTM and AAMA standards, and validates its suitability for construction applications in Florida.

The product evaluation report is directly relevant to the St. Johns County window replacement project funded by the Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program. The county received $275,490 to replace existing single-hung, single-pane windows at the W.E. Harris Community Center with energy-efficient, aluminum storefront windows in bronze color. The Kawneer product evaluation report provides technical validation for such a window replacement project, demonstrating compliance with building codes and performance standards for hurricane-prone regions. The report's engineering evaluation (Method 1-D) and quality assurance certification through Architectural Testing, Inc. further substantiate the product's suitability for the proposed window replacement initiative.
