About this file
This is a specification document for moving walks (moving walkways) issued by the Kenton County Airport Board for the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) Terminal modernization project, with design work conducted by HOK and consultation by Syska Hennessy Group. The project requires the provision and installation of four heavy-duty moving walks, each with a 54-inch pallet width, approximately 200 feet in length, operating at 100 feet per minute, with reversible linear configuration, AC induction motors with variable frequency drives, glass balustrades, stainless steel finishes, and comprehensive safety features including emergency stops, monitoring systems, and passenger detection capabilities. A pre-proposal meeting and site visit are scheduled for Monday, September 28, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Elevate CVG PMO Offices in Hebron, Kentucky. Written questions must be submitted by 11:59 pm on October 1, 2026, with answers posted by October 8, 2026 at 11:59 pm. Proposals are due by Thursday, October 15, 2026 at 2:00 pm. The contractor must be a qualified manufacturer with a minimum of ten years in business and five years of successful installation experience, holding valid Kentucky licensure from the Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction.
The specification requires bidders to submit detailed logistics plans covering equipment access, hoisting methods, storage requirements, and project schedules in Gantt chart format. The moving walk contractor is responsible for all materials, labor, installation, testing, and a twelve-month warranty maintenance period with semi-monthly preventative maintenance visits, emergency response within thirty minutes during business hours, and extended warranty coverage if deficiencies are identified prior to expiration. Qualified manufacturers identified in the specification include KONE U.S., Otis Elevator Company, Schindler Elevator Corporation, and TK Elevator, all providing heavy-duty transit features. The contractor must provide shop drawings, product data, equipment manuals, six sets of keys, and support a comprehensive monitoring system capable of real-time display and fault tracking. The specification also requires compliance with ASME A17.1-2010, the 2018 Commonwealth of Kentucky Building Code, the 2015 International Building Code, NFPA standards, and local codes, with all welding performed by certified welders and harmonic isolation installed to prevent electrical noise transmission to building systems.
