1. BACKGROUND:
Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area (hereinafter referred to as BISO) is located along the eastern portion of the border separating Kentucky and Tennessee. Encompassing approximately 125,000 acres, the park was established by Congress on March 7, 1974. The park’s primary mission is to preserve and protect the natural and cultural resources of the area while providing recreational opportunities for present and future generations.
The Bandy Creek Campground area is supported by a potable water distribution system that includes a 75,000-gallon steel potable water storage tank. This tank serves as the primary storage component for the campground and surrounding developed areas.
The National Park Service requires cyclic maintenance of this tank to ensure continued reliability, protect drinking water quality, and extend the service life of the asset. The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, and supplies necessary to perform maintenance activities including sediment removal, interior and exterior cleaning, surface preparation, protective coating installation, minor repairs, installation of a remote monitoring and SCADA telemetry system, tank disinfection, and return of the tank to service.
All work shall comply with applicable industry standards including AWWA D102 – Coating Steel Water Storage Tanks, AWWA C652 – Disinfection of Water Storage Facilities, and applicable federal and state regulations governing potable water systems.
