About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for federal contract opportunity CANE - Rehab Fee Church - 140P5326R0011, addressing clarifications on window protection, materials, and installation requirements for a church rehabilitation project.
The document clarifies that vinyl-wrapped plywood protection panels for windows are base bid items intended to protect windows during and after completion of base bid work, with specifications requiring long-term installation without permanent alteration to the building structure. Water pressure testing must meet appropriate industry standards if not otherwise specified. Metal weather stripping is required per specification 08 01 52-6, with the specific type (such as Spring Bronze) left to contractor discretion within the metal stripping requirement. All wood species replacements must match existing materials in-kind as specified in the contracting package; alternative materials such as Accoya wood are not acceptable. Replacement window glass must be in-kind to existing in both type and dimension, meaning 1/8" annealed/flat glass is only acceptable if it matches the existing glass. Door hardware condition assessment was available during site visits, and contractors must bid based on information gathered during those inspections. Questions requiring additional detail regarding specific items must reference page numbers or related information from the contracting package to receive adequate responses.
