The purpose of amendment 0002 is to answer questions.
Question 1: Reference is made to the existing site conditions, which indicate extensive vegetation growth within the pavement joints.
Please confirm whether removal of the vegetation is included within the project scope, as this work would be required prior to striping operations. Additionally, please confirm whether repair of the existing joints will be required as part of the contract scope.
Answer 1: Per specification section 31 10 00
Para 3.2 A.: Remove obstructions, trees, shrubs, and other vegetation to permit installation of new construction. Remove vegetation and install new joints as needed for new concrete work activities, or as otherwise specifically noted in the CDs. In other areas, vegetation shall be made flush with the pavement so as not to impede painting operations.
Question 2: Please provide details regarding any required subgrade replacement, including the extent of replacement and the quantities to be carried in the bid, if applicable.
Answer 2: Refer to site plans and details.
Question 3: Reference is made to mitigation notes on sheet G1.3, please clarify if contractor is responsible for the Red Knot
Survey.
Answer 3: The Government shall provide a qualified professional. The Contractor shall coordinate schedules to ensure that the survey can be completed before work starts.
Question 4: Reference is made to the stated work restrictions. Please confirm whether the
Contractor will be permitted to occupy and perform work in all parking lot work areas simultaneously during the allowable work period.

Answer 4: Construction shall commence after
Labor Day. A small portion of the parking lot shall remain open to the public for parking during construction. The area or areas shall be approved by the CO and can be moved as needed to accommodate construction.
Question 5: Reference is made to the demolition of Building 609. Please confirm whether there are any known asbestos-containing materials
(ACM) and/or lead-based paint or other hazardous materials present within the structure.
Answer 5: Hazardous materials abatement shall be included as part of the lump¿sum demolition scope. The Government¿s current information indicates that Building 609 contains limited known hazardous materials; however, this information is not considered exhaustive. For the purpose of establishing a basis of design and ensuring consistent pricing, the Contractor shall include in the lump¿sum price a complete hazardous materials abatement effort based on the following assumptions:
The Contractor shall assume discovery of typical quantities of asbestos¿containing materials (ACM), lead¿based paint (LBP), and other standard building hazardous materials consistent with structures of similar age and construction. Upon award, the Contractor shall perform a full hazardous materials survey by a licensed environmental professional to verify actual field conditions. If the verified conditions show less quantity than assumed, the
Contractor shall credit the Government the difference through a deductive modification. If the verified conditions show more quantity than assumed, the Contractor may request an equitable adjustment only for the documented, measurable overage. All abatement pricing shall be itemized with quantities, unit rates, and supporting documentation to allow Government validation.

Answer 7: The projected project schedule will run between Labor Day and Memorial Day to avoid summer limitations.
Question 8: Reference is made to the period of performance, does this period include all options as well?
Answer 8: The period of performance is an estimate of the days required to perform the work. Once an award is made the notice to proceed will start the period of performance.
Question 9: Please confirm whether the
Government will provide a designated laydown and material storage area for the Contractor¿s use during construction activities. If so, please provide the location and approximate dimensions of the available area.
