About this file
This amendment to solicitation 140F0620R0017 provides responses to contractor questions about a project to construct a shop building for the Madison Wetland Management District. It extends the proposal due date to June 30, 2020 and lists firms that have expressed interest. A. The purpose of this amendment is to respond to contractor questions, extend the proposal due date and provide an updated list of interested vendors.
B. The following is provided in response to contractor questions:
CONTRACTOR: 1) Who furnishes the propane tanks?
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: The General Contractor is to coordinate the procurement, delivery and installation of the propane tanks with a local provider.
CONTRACTOR: 2) Who sizes the propane tanks?
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Assume (2) 1000 gallon tanks.
CONTRACTOR: 3) What type of [propane] lines?
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: The type and size of the lines are to be verified and finalized by mechanical contractor once the final equipment selections have been made by the mechanical and general contractors.
CONTRACTOR: 4) Can Aluminum conductors be used on feeders 100amp and larger?
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: If this is allowed per code, then it will be acceptable.
CONTRACTOR: 5) On the electrical riser they want every out building metered? Do you want this done at each building or at the main switchgear?
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Refer to detail 2/A50. The individual feeds are to be metered at the site distribution panel. There is be a meter for the main service feeder up-line from that.
CONTRACTOR: 6) Is a lighting protection system required?
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Yes. See the notes on lightning protection on the drawings (roof plan and building elevations) as well as specification section 264113-Lightning Protection for Structures.
CONTRACTOR: 7) The Division 6 Casework spec calls for an AWI Quality Certification Program (QCP) participant to provide casework for this project. We are not a participant in this program as the AWI charges a fee per project to use a QCP shop. That charge would need to be passed on to the customer and since we are an AWI member and build our casework to AWI spec, we feel it is an unnecessary fee. I don't think we are the only shop to feel that way. Would it be possible to get the QCP requirement waived for this project?
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: With regards to Specification Section 064116 regarding cabinets, we can waive the requirements in section 1.3 and 1.4 requiring participation in the AWI's Quality Certification Program. However, we do still require construction of the cabinets to AWI's specs and quality standards.
