DRYDOCK REPAIRS TO NOAA SHIP FERDINAND HASSLER

This amendment is being issued to answer questions and add drawings/references to the RFQ for Attachment D1: FERDINAND HASSLER FY21 DRYOCK REPAIR SPECIFICATION.

X

The purpose of this Amendment is as follows:

1. Address questions submitted by vendors.

Q1: 3.5 Mask and wrap the server room racks to prevent any intrusion of smoke or dust particles. Build plywood protection over each of the three racks in the server room to prevent damage. Plywood shall protect rack tops and sides. How big are the racks? How close to the hot work are they?

A1: There are two racks - approximate dimensions of each are 7 feet tall, 20 feet long and 3 feet wide. Across the front rack hot work will be approximately 5 feet way at about a 45 degree angle. On the outboard side of both racks, hot work will be approximately 2 feet away but almost directly underneath.

Q2: 3.5.4.1.2 Wrap all cables within 20 feet of all hot work with protective fire cloth. Will the wire ways be in the direct path of the hot work? Can they be moved?

A2: There are no wire ways in the direct path that will need to be moved but there will be up to approximately 30 studs or small hanger that will have to be removed with smaller individual cables attached and reinstalled on the new steel. Pictures showing these are found here (top 12 inches of bulkhead only): This additional reference has been therefore added to the RFQ. References 19 through 25 are attached.

Q3. 3.5.4.2 Remove insulation interferences on inside of steel and remove overhead panels, cables and other interferences as needed. Pictures of affected areas.

A3. This additional reference has been therefore added to the RFQ. References 19 through 25 are attached.

Q4: Reinstall all interference piping, insulation and cables and pressure test affected piping to 1.5 working pressure for 4 hours. Check for leaks. How much pipe? Denso tape is mentioned, how many fittings are affected? Pictures of the fittings and how the pipe is configured from start to finish would be very helpful.

A4: This additional reference has been therefore added to the RFQ. Reference 19 through 24 is attached. Pictures of pipe in question attached here. Exterior pipe that runs across the front and down the sides down to the davits running just in front of the steel to be replaced. Most is stainless hydraulic pipe, one is compressed air. Can be cut or disconnected at corners, removed from hangers and moved away from repair area.

Q5: Repair all damaged insulation and reinstall all overhead and interferences.

Paint all insulation and disturbed areas to match. What type of panels?

What is the configuration of the support system? Where do the pipes and wires run in relation to the renewal work?

A5: Panels are stainless steel located in wet lab and scientific freezer room.

Panels screw into trussed that run across the overhead - approximately 12- 16 screws per panel (although adjacent panels share screws as shown in photo) See attached photos for exterior pipe interferences and 3.5.4..1.2 regarding cable way interferences.

Q6: ET shop, wet lab, dry lab, mission control spaces, server room and scientific freezer. Inserts are above the ET shop, Wet Lab, server room, Dry Lab and mission control spaces. Pictures?

A6: This additional reference has been therefore added to the RFQ. References 19 through 25 are attached.
