The following are responses to Request for Information [RFIs] 65-75 and additional response for RFI 12.
12. Floor Plans on A1 show two different rooms numbered 110: "Cache 110" and "Workstation 110." On the interior finish schedule (A5), only "Workstation 110" is shown. Concrete flatwork plan 1/A4 shows only "Cache 110." When the finish schedule refers to acoustical ceiling tile and cedar base in the Dayroom, please clarify whether this refers to the entire "Dayroom/Workstation" area (as it is referenced in B/A7) or rather to only the portion between gridlines 2 and 3 (as suggested by the floor plan).
REVISED ANSWER:
This information to be provided following proposal receipt if necessary IAW FAR 15.306 – Exchanges with offerors after receipt of proposals.
65. Request clarification of buildings for demolition listed as Building 402 & Building 402 in Section B – Prices and Cost Schedule of Items, ANSWER:
Building 403 is Warehouse/Garage. Building 402 is Los Prietos Station 42. Refer to Project Drawings and Plans C-2 (Attachment 3). F - Warehouse/Garage. G - LP Station 42.
66. Specification 27 00 00, 1.06 calls for a 25-year warranty for telecommunications labor and materials.
This is well beyond industry standards, which are 1-year for labor and 2- or 3-year for materials.
Workmanship issues typically surface right away for telecommunications wiring; problems arising later tend to be due to rodent issues or misuse by the end user. In light of this, please confirm that the extended warranty requirement is not applicable, and that one-year labor and three-year materials warranties will suffice.
ANSWER:
Agreed that labor warranty for 1 year and material warranty for 2-3 years is typical and acceptable;
however it is noted that the manufacture warranty for some materials will likely exceed 2-3 years.
67. Civil plans do not show an (e) 1-1/2" irrigation line that runs the length of the chain link fence.
Portions of it will have to be demolished to make way for the new garage entry. Please confirm that repairs to this line are not in contract.
ANSWER:
If referring to the above ground line along the bottom of the fence. Yes; it is confirmed that repairs to this line are not included in the contract.
68. Chain link note 4 on sheet 3 of detail 600-3 of C-3.4 says that "barbed wire shall be used only when specified." Barbed wire is nowhere specified. Existing fence into which the new fence will tie in has barbed wire. Please confirm that (n) chain link fence shall have barbed wire as drawn on Sheet 1 of the chain link fence details.
ANSWER:
It is confirmed that new chain link fence shall have barbed wire, per details.
69. There are overhead wires running from the (e) L.P. Station 42 to the (e) L.P. Communications building. Please advise what is to be done with this wiring when the Station is demolished.
Additional information to be provided post-award and prior to project implementation/execution.
70. Sheet C-4.1 shows a new UG communications line running directly under the location of the (e) Warehouse/Garage building (cf. C-4.0). With the anticipated phasing of the project, at the time that this trench is to be dug, the Warehouse will still be standing. Please indicate where this new communications line is to be routed.
ANSWER:
Additional information to be provided post-award and project implementation. An alternate alignment will likely need to be provided in order to accommodate the construction phasing, although it is not anticipated that it will result in a significant increase to quantities for this item.
71. Specification 10 52 00, 2.A.5, calls for Contractor to provide six (6) corner guards. There are only two outside corners in the building—the southwest corner of Office 101 and the southeast corner of Restroom 104—as well as the 30" wall in the laundry area of the Engine Bays. We will provide two corner guards and one wall protector, rather than six corner guards. Please confirm that this is acceptable.
Confirmed; acceptable
72. Section B/A7 shows that the surface-applied acoustical ceiling tile stops short of the north and south walls of the Dayroom by approximately 3'. This distribution is not shown on the reflected ceiling plan on A5. We intend to include 400 SF of surface-applied acoustical tile for bidding purposes. Please confirm that this is acceptable.
ANSWER:
Surface-applied ceiling tile to be applied to all of Dayroom 106. Building section B/A7, Surface-applied acoustical ceiling should extend to north and south walls.
73. Electrical note 4 on E2.0 is not referenced on the power/signal plan (2/E2.0), and television is not shown on the panelboard schedule on E1.0. Please confirm electrical note 4 is not applicable, or else indicate location of television.
ANSWER:
Note 4 on E2.0 references to a Tele/Data outlet (see Legend) located as specified in the drawings and runs to the tele/com closet and not to the panelboard. Coordinate installation with Forest Service Office of the Chief Information Officer [OCIO]. No Televisions on the drawings.
74. r/signal plan 2/E2.0 shows fused disconnects (per Note 10) to two heaters, one at the north end and the other at the south end of the engine bays. Reflected ceiling plan 1/A5 similarly shows two heaters.
M and P drawings show heater only at south end. Please confirm no fused disconnect is necessary at the north end of the engine bays.
Provide fused disconnects where heaters are located per M&P drawings only.
75. Specification 08 50 00, 1.1A2 calls for "single-hung windows." This feature is not available in the specified wood-clad fiberglass window line. Please confirm that double-hung is acceptable.
ANSWER:
Window distributor for Milguard was contacted by architect. Single-hung windows are still available and required.
