For details see element

6- PRESCRIPTION. The acreage has been broken down into four areas consisting of

38 to 67 acres units. The contractor will furnish labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, operating supplies, and incidentals to complete the work within the units. The project vicinity and treatment area is identified on the project map.

PROJECT/SITE CONDITIONS: More project information can be obtained by contacting

Micah Suwyn (435)652-3172 or email thomas.suwyn@usda.gov , or Skeet Houston (435)652-

3173 or email skeet.houston@usda.gov .

A. Access to the Work: Travel highway 219 (Crestline Rd) west through Enterprise for approximately 16 miles to the project boundary. The Crestline Chaining project area can be directly accessed from Forest Road 875 as well the following roads:

FS877 FS880 FS875 FS1003

FS911 FS1014 FS019 FS015

B. Site Description: The Crestline Chaining project area is located between Terry

Springs and the Nevada/Utah Stateline in a mixed environment of Pinyon-Juniper, mountain brush (oak, bitterbrush, service berry and sagebrush). Other species present includes cliffrose, Mormon tea rabbit brush, crested wheat grass, rice grass and sheep fescue. Forest System Roads run throughout most of the project area.

C. Environmental Consideration:

1. Traffic Control: Public safety is the top priority for this project. It is the contractor’s responsibility to provide for traffic control needs on roads during operations, including road guards and signs. Area roads can be busy with recreationists.

2. Clean-Up: Project sites shall be cleaned up of all project-related refuse and all refuse will be removed by the contractor. Contractor will be responsible for disposal of materials in a manner consistent with State, Federal, and local laws and for all expenses incurred with disposal.

mailto:thomas.suwyn@usda.gov mailto:skeet.houston@usda.gov

3. Motor Vehicle Use: Motor vehicle travel is permitted on existing open roads

(see map). Machine thinning/masticating equipment may operate throughout the project area on slopes less than 35%.

4. Ground Surface: Treatment units contain areas that may be rocky, sparsely vegetated, and range from level to slopes greater than 35%.

5. Noxious Weeds: Before coming on site initially, all contractor-furnished trucks and other vehicles must be washed in order to remove all dirt, debris, and plant material that could result in the transfer of noxious weeds. Vehicles must be washed any time they are used on a different project before being brought back into the project area.

6. Elevation: The project area elevation is approximately 5,950 feet. Roads are typically passable throughout the period of performance but can receive enough snow or rain to make travel impossible.

7. Surface Disturbance: Legal public or private access roads damaged by the contractor shall be restored at the contractor’s expense to the same condition they were in at the commencement of work. Debris from the treatment will be completely removed from all roads within and around the project area.

2. SEQUENCING AND SCHEDULING:
