About this file
This document outlines a quality assurance surveillance plan for a mastication task order to be carried out on the Dixie National Forest in Utah. Key details include: trees over 12 inches in height must be fully masticated, with no more than 20% of any masticated tree remaining intact. Stump heights cannot exceed 6 inches and mulch depth must be consistent and not exceed 6 inches, with up to 10% allowed to be deeper. No soil trenches deeper than 2 inches are permitted, with 90% required to be shallower. Treated areas must be cleared of slash within 10 to 15 feet of roads, streams, infrastructure, and other specified areas. Performance will be evaluated through periodic visual inspections and non-compliance may result in performance appraisals or re-work requirements.
The related federal contract opportunity is a solicitation for a multiple award, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract for mechanical thinning and other fuels reduction services across lands managed by Forest Service regions one and four. Services include tree thinning, removal, processing, mastication, piling, treatment, protection and more. The base contract is for one year with four optional renewal years. A pre-proposal meeting will be held virtually on March 15th and the full solicitation is planned for posting on SAM on or around March 4th.
