About this file
This document is a specification for roof replacement work at the Coyote Ranger District Office, located in Rio Arriba County, New Mexico on the Santa Fe National Forest. The project involves removal and replacement of approximately 8,000 square feet of roofing material, with an estimated 30% of sub-roof requiring replacement with 15/32" standard roofing OSB. The contractor must install ice and water shields with a 24" minimum width along roof eaves, remove approximately 70 linear feet of gutters (not to be replaced), and remove 8 skylights with openings closed over using metal roofing on the exterior and plywood and gypsum board on the interior. The work must be completed within 120 days from issuance of the Notice to Proceed, with the contractor required to measure actual roof area and damaged sub-roof percentage for Contracting Officer concurrence before proceeding.
The roofing system specified is an interlocking standing seam metal roof system engineered to withstand 70 mph wind speeds, with 24-gauge, UL-90 rated panels meeting ASTM 792-83-AZ50, Grade 50 specifications. Panels must be sealed at all seams with manufacturer-approved elastomeric polyurethane sealant and feature a fluorocarbon coating system with color approved by the Contracting Officer Representative. Additional work includes installation of blanket insulation (ASTM C 665, Type III), wrapping existing wood fascia with 0.024 inch aluminum trim coil, installation of aluminum soffit with attic ventilation, and removal and re-installation of the existing lightning protection system in compliance with NFPA 780 and UL 96 standards. The contractor must comply with International Building Code standards, OSHA regulations, and obtain written approval of submittals including manufacturer's literature and shop drawings for standing metal seam, lumber, underlayment, and insulation products before incorporating them into the project.
