About this file
This is Amendment 0001 to Solicitation 1240LU26Q0030 for the Fort Missoula Bakery Renovation project, issued by the Forest Service on May 7, 2026.
The amendment clarifies eight key modifications to the original contract specifications. Contractors must include lead and asbestos testing for the ceiling as part of Division 01 – General Requirements, referencing lead-based paint test results from prior abatement work completed in 2019. Division 07 – Thermal and Moisture Protection work includes replacement of sealant joints at concrete chimneys with new high-quality exterior silicone sealant, with existing sealant to be abated due to assumed asbestos content, and installation of new roof tiles on the cupola from an Owner stockpile. For interior doors, the office door (102b) must be an acoustic assembly with an STC rating of at least 50 using a 5 or 6 panel wood door ready for paint per Sections 081433 and 087100, while the bathroom and laundry room doors (105 and 106a) should reuse two of the original interior wood doors found in the best condition, including new hardware, paint, and necessary modifications. The elevation drawings require correction to relocate the louver installation from the west elevation to the east elevation above the door, per mechanical plans. For Division 26 – Electrical, contractors must resolve a cord reel design discrepancy for the Type 'A' Drop Receptacle by either providing a custom 5-conductor cord or separate cord reels for 120V/5-20R and 208V/6-20R circuits, and must include utility upgrade costs in the contract as NorthWestern Energy will accept payments directly from contractors, contrary to the original drawing notation.

Solicitation 1240LU26Q0030 Fort Missoula Bakery Renovation
Amendment 0001 05/07/2026
1. See Attachment 0008 in this Amendment 0001 posting for lead-based paint test results prior to a past abatement project. Abatement of lead-based paint at exterior walls, interior walls, windows and doors was completed in 2019 by Abatement Contractors of Montana. Window sealant and glazing were also abated. Contacts for the previous project believe the ceiling tested negative for lead and asbestos, but we do not have record of that. Contractor is to include lead and asbestos testing for the ceiling in the contract as part of Division 01 – General Requirements.
2. Include replacement of sealant joint from the concrete chimneys to base metal flashing with new high quality exterior silicone sealant, as part of Division 07 – Thermal and Moisture protection.
Existing sealant at these locations is to be abated, as it can be assumed to contain asbestos.
3. The office interior door (102b in door schedule) is to be an acoustic door assembly with an STC rating of at least 50, with a 5 or 6 panel wood door ready to receive paint, in lieu of the door and hardware specified in Sections 081433 and 087100. Sticking profiles do not have to match existing doors, they will be chosen from the manufacturer’s available options.
4. The original interior wood doors were recently found. If feasible, use two in the best condition for the bathroom and laundry room doors (105 and 106a in door schedule) in lieu of the door specified in Sections 081433. Include new hardware and paint, removal of existing hardware and modification of the doors to fit the new hardware/fill holes from old hardware. Photos of the doors are below.
5. A few roof tiles have fallen from an area on the cupola. A photo is below. Include installation of new tiles at this location from an Owner stockpile as part of Division 07 – Thermal and Moisture Protection.
6. The elevation drawings on A201 show to remove a window and install a louver above the door on the west elevation. This is incorrect and should occur above the door on the east elevation. See the mechanical plans.
7. Per detail 2 on drawing sheet E002, the Type 'A' Drop Receptacle is supposed to have a cord reel, (1)
5-20R duplex receptacle, (1) 6-20R duplex receptacle; and according to detail 1 on sheet E002, the 5- 20R and 6-20R are to be in the same box and share a ground. However, the HBL45123 as shown on detail 2/E002 is only a (3) conductor cable. To resolve this, Contractors may either 1) Provide a custom 5 conductor cord and retain all other aspects of the design, or 2) Provide separate cord reels at each instance – one for the 120V/5-20R and one for the 208V/6-20R. Both reels can still be fed from the same 3-pole breaker as already designed.
8. Contractor is to include utility upgrade costs in the contract as part of Division 26 – Electrical. The general note on drawing sheet E002 stating Forest Service will pay separately is incorrect. We have contacted NorthWestern Energy and they have stated they will take payments from contractors.
