About this file
This document is a geotechnical data appendix containing boring logs, laboratory test results, and well completion information for the Park Lake Dam project located in Clancy, Montana.
The appendix includes detailed boring logs from multiple boreholes (BH-PL1, BH-PL2, B3, B4, B4A, and B5) drilled between July 25-27, 2023, documenting subsurface soil and rock conditions to depths ranging from 20 to 109 feet. Standard penetration test (SPT) data, sample locations, and geotechnical descriptions are provided for each boring. Laboratory analysis results include Atterberg limit testing (ASTM D4318) on clay samples from BH-PL1 at depths of 11 and 11.5 feet, grain size distribution analysis (ASTM D422/C136) showing sand and silt compositions, and direct shear testing (ASTM D3080) on lean clay and well-graded sand specimens with measured shear strengths and cohesion values. The document also contains historical geotechnical borehole logs from 2001-2002 (BH-1, BH-1S, BH-2, BH-3, BH-4, BH-5, BH-6, BH-7, BH-8, BH-9) and corresponding well completion reports from the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation documenting well installations, casing configurations, and water level measurements. Additionally, obliteration details and temporary haul road specifications outline site restoration and construction access requirements, including provisions for equipment washing, slash distribution, and surface recontouring to minimize storm erosion impacts.
