About this file

This is an appendix document prepared for a New York state and local IT staff augmentation services RFP issued by Buffalo Public Schools (BPS). The RFP requests staffing services across three primary categories: complete network and data center infrastructure support including telecommunications, hardware, diagnostics, firewalls, servers, content filtering, backups, internet connectivity, and support for plant facilities security and video initiatives; enterprise device management encompassing imaging for Windows, iOS, macOS, and chromeOS operating systems, device customization, deployment programming, and configuration management; and security services including MS Defender deployment management, vulnerability management, cybersecurity integration, vCISO coordination, 24/7 SOC services oversight, and NIST standards-based risk assessment training and testing. The document provides a comprehensive inventory snapshot based on October 2025 data supporting the staffing requirements and service scope.

The current BPS environment comprises approximately 145 total servers operating across two active-active data centers (Sites 94 and 97), with 119 primary servers including 12 domain controllers, 58 application servers, 24 database servers, 10 file/print servers, 8 virtualization hosts, and supporting infrastructure for monitoring, backup, security, and testing functions. Approximately 95 percent of servers are virtualized, supported by VMware vSphere 8.5 clusters with Pure Storage ActiveCluster arrays providing synchronous replication and instant failover capabilities. The environment maintains average availability exceeding 99.99 percent uptime and is protected through Druva Backups, Microsoft Defender Endpoint for Servers, and integration with BPS Active Directory/Azure AD hybrid domain services. The managed network services vendor will assume responsibility for monitoring, capacity planning, patch coordination, and backup validation across all in-scope servers.

Text version

Appendix B – Servers and Applications Summary (Based on October 2025 Inventory) Buffalo Public Schools (BPS) maintains a centralized, virtualized server environment designed for high availability, redundancy, and simplified lifecycle management across its two active-active data centers (Sites 94 and 97). The environment supports all instructional, administrative, and operational systems throughout the District. Most production workloads run on VMware vSphere 8.5 clusters backed by Pure Storage ActiveCluster arrays for synchronous replication and instant failover.

All servers are joined to the BPS Active Directory / Azure AD hybrid domain and are protected through Druva Backups and Microsoft Defender Endpoint for Servers. Standardized build templates, automated patching, and ITIL-based change-control processes are followed for every system.
