About this file
This addendum document pertains to the Corridor-Ashaway bridge replacement project managed by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation. The project encompasses the replacement of three bridges (Bridge No. 005051, a butted box beam; Bridge No. 005151, a concrete arch; and Bridge No. 005251, a butted box beam) spanning bodies of water in Providence County. The scope of work includes bridge demolition, foundation work with piles and micropile systems, prefabricated structural steel tub girders, ultra-high-performance concrete closure pours, abutment and pier construction, deck systems, utility relocations including gas mains, drainage structures, stormwater treatment systems, erosion control measures, ADA-compliant accessibility improvements, guardrails, landscaping, and asphalt and concrete placement. Sealed proposals are due August 28, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. EDT through Ocean State Procures. Vendor questions must be submitted by August 19, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. EDT. Phased completion deadlines include November 10, 2027 for the Ashaway River Bridge and August 14, 2028 for the Potter Hill Bridge, with substantial completion required by October 23, 2028. Liquidated damages are assessed at $3,500 per day for phase completions and $1,950 per day for substantial completion milestones.
The project is federally funded under the Federal-Aid Highway program with 80% Federal Highway Administration funding and 20% state funding (FAP Number STP-3334(001)). All work is subject to Davis-Bacon prevailing wage requirements effective May 18, 2026, and Buy America compliance mandates a minimum domestic content of 55 percent for manufactured products, with foreign materials subject to a minimal use threshold of $2,500 or 0.1 percent of contract value. Bidders must provide a 5% bid bond and 100% performance bond. Required insurance includes $1,000,000 general liability coverage and workers' compensation insurance. A 0.33% contract administrative fee applies. Lump sum item breakdowns are due within 70 days of apparent low bidder notification. Prefabricated bridge units require detailed shop drawings, welding procedures, and quality documentation with strict placement tolerances of 1/4-inch for width and 1/8-inch for bearing elevation.
