Create a conversation
Start GovTribe AI from a new chat or search result, choose generation settings, use composer controls, attach files, choose skills, dictate prompts, and organize chats in projects.
Click New Chat, or open GovTribe AI and choose New Chat.
GovTribe AI is available on Launch, Launch Plus, Growth, Growth Plus, and Scale. Usage may require credits; see Choose the right GovTribe plan.
Start a new chat
The new conversation page shows a greeting, recommended prompt cards, and the composer. If you start the chat from a project, GovTribe saves the new conversation in that project.
| Starting point | What happens |
|---|---|
| New Chat | Opens a blank conversation in the main GovTribe AI timeline. |
| New chat in a project | Opens a blank conversation and assigns it to that project. |
| Recommended prompt card | Sends the selected starter prompt to GovTribe AI. |
| GovTribe AI on a search result | Opens GovTribe AI for that result before starting a conversation. |
If your account has reached its GovTribe AI usage limit, GovTribe can show a usage-limit alert and disable new AI work until access is available again.
Start from a search result
Supported search result cards include a small outlined GovTribe AI button with a sparkle icon. Select it to open a centered GovTribe AI dialog with the same reading and ready states shown on a record page. GovTribe AI begins reading the result only after you open the dialog, so loading search results does not start this work.
Choose an action to start the full conversation. GovTribe prepares the selected action using the result's current details, opens the conversation page, and begins the first response with your current Intelligence and Response length preferences. The conversation does not run inside the dialog.
Choose Something Else when the listed actions do not match your question. Enter your own question about the result and press Enter to start the conversation. You can also close the dialog without starting a conversation.
You can review the available actions before a conversation starts. Your account's normal GovTribe AI access, usage-limit, and credit rules apply when the conversation begins.
Use the composer
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Prompt box | Type the question or instruction you want GovTribe AI to answer. The default placeholder is Ask me anything.... |
| Tune GovTribe AI | Select the sliders icon to open the Tune drawer. Choose Intelligence, Response length, Custom Instructions, or Memory & context. |
| Add Files | Opens the file picker so you can include files with the next message. |
| Connected tools | Appears when external connector access is enabled for your account. Use it to connect or manage supported outside providers for the conversation. See Manage connected tools. |
| Skill chooser | Opens the searchable skill picker. You can also type / in the prompt box to open the same picker. See Choose a skill for the chooser guide and GovCon workflows with GovTribe AI for detailed workflow examples. |
| Dictation | Records a spoken prompt, transcribes it, and places the text in the composer. |
| Send or steer | Starts the conversation or adds the next message to the thread. While GovTribe AI is responding, type a message and use the same arrow button to steer the active response. |
| Stop | Appears while GovTribe AI is responding and the prompt box is empty. Use it to stop the active response. |
Choose generation settings
Open Tune GovTribe AI from the sliders icon in the composer, then choose Intelligence. The same Tune drawer is available in new and existing conversations because these controls set your global preferences for future ordinary messages.
| Setting | Choices | What it controls |
|---|---|---|
| Model | GPT-5.6 Sol, GPT-5.6 Terra, or GPT-5.6 Luna | Which model answers the next prompt. Use the task guidance below to choose. |
| Reasoning | None, Low, Medium, or High | How much analysis GovTribe AI does before replying. High performs deeper analysis for complex questions and may use more credits. |
Response length is a separate global preference in the same Tune drawer. Open Response length and choose Low, Medium, or High. Your current selection applies to the next ordinary response in new and existing conversations.
Choose a model for GovCon work
| Model | Use it for |
|---|---|
| GPT-5.6 Sol | Complex solicitation reviews, capture strategy, and questions that require careful analysis. Sol uses the most credits. |
| GPT-5.6 Terra | Day-to-day opportunity research, market analysis, and drafting capture notes or briefs. |
| GPT-5.6 Luna | Quick opportunity checks, short summaries, and straightforward questions with lower credit use. |
For equivalent token usage, Sol has the highest customer credit rate, Terra is lower, and Luna is lowest. Your actual total still depends on the amount of conversation context, files and tools used, response length, and reasoning level.
New chats start with your saved model, reasoning, and Response length preferences. If you have not changed them before, GovTribe AI uses GPT-5.6 Sol, Medium reasoning, and Medium Response length. Reset to GovTribe defaults in Intelligence restores Sol and Medium reasoning without changing Response length.
Intelligence and Response length changes apply globally to future ordinary messages across new and existing conversations. A response already in progress keeps the settings it started with, including reconnects and recovery attempts.
Generation settings apply only to GovTribe AI conversations. When you start a conversation from a GovTribe record or routed workflow, launch-provided settings can apply to the first response. Later ordinary messages use your latest Tune preferences. When you start from Something Else on a GovTribe record or search result, the launcher stays compact and uses your saved defaults.
Attach files
Use Add Files, or drag files into the composer, when you want GovTribe AI to consider supporting material with your prompt. Attached files are part of the message you send; they are separate from files that GovTribe AI may create later during the conversation.
You can attach up to 10 files to a message. Individual file uploads are limited to 10 MB.
| File type | Supported formats |
|---|---|
| Images | GIF, JPEG, PNG, and WebP |
| Text | Plain text |
| Data files | CSV, TSV, and JSON |
| Web and markup | HTML, Markdown, and XML |
| Code files | C, C++, C#, Go, Java, JavaScript, PHP, Python, Ruby, shell scripts, and TypeScript |
| Microsoft Office | Word, Excel, and PowerPoint |
| OpenDocument | Text documents, spreadsheets, and presentations |
| Rich text | RTF |
After you add files, the composer shows the selected files before you send the message. Remove a file from the composer if you do not want it included in the next prompt.
Choose a skill
Skills tell GovTribe AI what kind of work you want it to perform. Use the skill chooser when the task has a clear workflow, such as capture review, market intelligence, pricing analysis, proposal support, deep record research, chart creation, or theme-driven output.
Open Use a skill, or type / in the prompt box, to use the same searchable picker. Keep typing after / to narrow the results, use the arrow keys to move between choices, and press Enter to select one. The picker highlights matching text, removes the slash search text after selection, and leaves the rest of your prompt in place.
Available skills can vary by account access. For help deciding which skill to select, see Choose a skill. For detailed GovCon prompt examples, see GovCon workflows with GovTribe AI.
Dictate a prompt
Use the microphone control when you want to speak instead of type. GovTribe records the audio, transcribes it, and places the transcription in the composer so you can review it before sending. Dictation supports common audio and video recording formats, with transcription uploads limited to 25 MB.
Use recommended prompts
New chats can show recommended prompt cards designed as practical starting points for GovCon work. If GovTribe cannot show personalized cards, it falls back to general starter prompts such as finding relevant opportunities or prioritizing next actions.
Selecting a recommended prompt sends that prompt to GovTribe AI and starts the conversation.
Organize chats in projects
Projects keep related GovTribe AI work together. Use them for capture efforts, market segments, proposal work, customer or agency research, or any topic where you want the chats and automations in one place.
You can:
- Create a project from New Project.
- Select More to reveal every additional project inline in the sidebar. The project list does not open in a separate overlay.
- Start a new chat inside a project.
- Expand a project to see its conversations.
- Drag chats into a project.
- Drag chats out of a project and back to the main timeline.
- Rename or delete a project when you have access.
Deleting a project does not delete its conversations. GovTribe removes the project assignment and moves those chats back to the main GovTribe AI timeline.
