Global Search

Use the top search bar to search across GovTribe records, recent searches, workspace items, and search pages from anywhere in GovTribe.

Global Search is the search bar at the top of GovTribe. Use it when you want to start from one place, search across GovTribe record types, reopen recent searches, or move into a full search page when a result group deserves deeper review.

Search from anywhere

Click or tab into Search everywhere... in the top navigation. If the search box is empty, GovTribe shows recent searches connected to your account. Click a recent search to run it again, or use the trash button to remove it from your recent-search list.

To start a new search, type a term or phrase such as Counter UAS systems. GovTribe searches as you type and shows matching records grouped by type, such as opportunities, awards, vendors, agencies, files, categories, programs, saved searches, pursuits, tasks, and GovTribe AI items when those records are available to you.

Use Global Search for broad discovery, quick record lookup, and jumping into a focused result set. Use a full GovTribe search page when you need filters, sorts, saved-search alerts, exports, or a larger set of results.

Choose a search mode

Open the mode selector at the left side of the search box to choose how GovTribe reads the text you type.

ModeBest forWhat GovTribe does
AutoMost searchesLets GovTribe AI choose the best search mode for the query. Start here unless you know you need exact keyword behavior or broader semantic matching.
KeywordExact words, acronyms, names, identifiers, and quoted phrasesLooks for precise term overlap and supports keyword-style search text.
SemanticPlain-language concepts, related work, and searches where exact wording may differLooks for meaning instead of only matching the exact words in the query.

In Auto, GovTribe chooses Keyword or Semantic behavior for the search, then organizes result groups so the most relevant record types appear first. For opportunity-focused searches, this can help bring the opportunity groups that best match the query closer to the top.

For detailed examples of Keyword Search, Semantic Search, exact phrases, exclusions, and grouped terms, see Choose a search mode and write queries.

Review results

Global Search opens on All, which shows a small set of results from each matching record type. Each result group has a title, a result count when available, and matching records with names plus short descriptions or search highlights.

Click a record title to open that record. Click a group title, such as Federal Contract Opportunities, to focus Global Search on that type of result and show more results for the same query. Click All again to return to the mixed result view.

Result groups can include public GovTribe records and workspace records. Workspace results depend on your account, workspace access, and the records available to you.

Use advanced actions

Use the three-dot button next to a result group when you want to continue from Global Search into a fuller workflow. The available actions depend on the result type.

ActionWhat it does
Advanced SearchOpens the main GovTribe search page for that result type with the Global Search query already applied, so you can add filters, change sorting, and review more results.
SaveOpens the save-search workflow for result types that support saved searches, so you can monitor the result set and receive notifications when matching records change.
ExportStarts an export for result types that support search-result exports. Narrow the search on the full search page first when you need a more precise export.

Some result groups do not show every action. For example, a workspace item, comment, discussion, or other quick-open result may be available to open from Global Search without supporting saved-search or export actions.

Common questions

Why do actions vary by result type?

Global Search searches across many kinds of records. Some record types have full search pages, saved searches, and exports. Others are quick-open records or workspace objects that do not support every search workflow.

Why did a recent search not appear?

Recent searches are tied to your account and recent search activity. GovTribe may hide saved-search activity, duplicate queries, or recent entries that are not useful as reusable search text. If the query is not listed, type it again in the search box.

When should I switch away from Auto?

Use Keyword when exact words, acronyms, identifiers, or quoted phrases must match. Use Semantic when the idea matters more than the exact wording. For most everyday searches, keep Auto selected and let GovTribe choose.

What should I do when Global Search has no results?

Try a shorter query, remove exact quotes, switch search modes, or open the full search page for the most relevant record type and use filters. For more ways to adjust broad, narrow, or unexpected results, see Troubleshoot search results.
