GovTribe MCP
Connect GovTribe MCP to supported AI tools and manage MCP API keys from your GovTribe account.
Click GovTribe MCP, or open GovTribe, open the user menu, and click GovTribe MCP.
GovTribe MCP is available on Launch, Launch Plus, Growth, Growth Plus, and Scale. Usage requires credits; see Choose the right GovTribe plan.
GovTribe MCP lets supported AI tools work with GovTribe data and account workspace actions. Depending on the tool and your account access, that can include researching opportunities, awards, vendors, forecasts, contacts, government files, procurement news, saved searches, pipelines, pursuits, stages, and tasks.
Before you connect
GovTribe credits must be enabled before the GovTribe MCP page shows API keys. If credits are not enabled, GovTribe shows Enable GovTribe Credits and explains that credits are required to access GovTribe MCP.
Use Enable Credits to open Credits, where the account owner can enable credit-powered features. If you are not the account owner, Credits explains how to ask the owner to enable credits.
MCP usage is credit-based and separate from your GovTribe subscription plan. If you do not use GovTribe MCP, MCP does not consume credits. Use Credits to review balances, usage, credit packs, auto-refill, and the credit consumption table.
Connect GovTribe to AI tools
The GovTribe MCP page shows connection cards for supported AI tools. Each tool has its own setup steps, depending on whether the connection is a published app or connector, an API request, or an MCP client configuration.
| Tool | Setup location | Connection type | Guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | ChatGPT Apps directory | Published GovTribe app inside ChatGPT | Connect GovTribe MCP to ChatGPT |
| Claude | Claude connector directory | Published remote Claude connector | Connect GovTribe MCP to Claude |
| Microsoft 365 Copilot | Microsoft 365 Copilot Agent Store | Published GovTribe agent inside Microsoft 365 Copilot | Connect GovTribe MCP to Microsoft 365 Copilot |
| Codex | Codex CLI or Codex IDE extension | Remote MCP server configured with an MCP API key | Connect GovTribe MCP to Codex |
| Gemini | Gemini API SDK or Gemini CLI | Developer-client MCP configuration | GovTribe MCP for Developers |
| Other MCP clients | API, CLI, IDE, or MCP testing tool | Remote MCP server configured with an MCP API key | GovTribe MCP for Developers |
ChatGPT
Use ChatGPT when you want GovTribe data available inside ChatGPT conversations.
Connect the GovTribe app from ChatGPT's Apps directory. This setup does not require you to paste the GovTribe MCP server URL or create a GovTribe MCP API key. After the GovTribe app is connected, you can use it in ChatGPT conversations by adding GovTribe from the app picker or mentioning GovTribe in your prompt when apps are available.
If Connect is unavailable, your ChatGPT plan, region, or workspace settings may not allow the app. Business, Enterprise, and Edu workspaces can also have app availability controlled by a workspace owner or admin. For general ChatGPT app behavior, see Apps in ChatGPT.
For the full setup workflow, see Connect GovTribe MCP to ChatGPT.
Claude
Use Claude when you want GovTribe data available for structured reports, charts, and visual analysis.
The current Claude setup uses the GovTribe remote connector in Claude's connector directory. It is not the same as a local Claude Desktop extension. In Claude, open Connectors, add GovTribe from the directory, select GovTribe under Not connected, choose Connect, sign in to GovTribe, and choose Allow.
After the connection is active, GovTribe MCP appears in Claude's available tools. Claude Desktop can use the same connected web connector after the Claude account setup is complete.
For the full setup workflow, see Connect GovTribe MCP to Claude.
Microsoft 365 Copilot
Use Microsoft 365 Copilot when you want GovTribe available from Copilot conversations and Microsoft 365 workflows.
Connect the GovTribe agent from the Microsoft 365 Copilot Agent Store. This setup does not require you to paste the GovTribe MCP server URL or create a GovTribe MCP API key. If your organization requires admin approval for agents, Microsoft 365 Copilot may show Request approval instead of Add.
For the full setup workflow, see Connect GovTribe MCP to Microsoft 365 Copilot.
Codex
Use Codex when you want GovTribe MCP available while Codex works with a codebase, writes documentation, or researches GovTribe context from the CLI or IDE extension.
Codex uses MCP configuration rather than a published ChatGPT-style app. Create a GovTribe MCP API key, configure https://govtribe.com/mcp in Codex, and store the key in an environment variable so Codex can send it as a bearer token.
For the full setup workflow, see Connect GovTribe MCP to Codex.
Gemini
Use Gemini for MCP only in supported advanced setups.
Last checked May 20, 2026: Gemini on the web does not currently support custom MCP configuration. Google has announced MCP support for Gemini models and SDKs, but that announcement did not provide a timeline for a standard Gemini web-app connection like ChatGPT or Claude.
Gemini can use GovTribe MCP through API or command-line workflows that support MCP configuration. Google documents MCP support in the Gemini API SDKs and Gemini CLI. For setup steps, see GovTribe MCP for Developers.
API keys
When credits are enabled, the GovTribe MCP page shows API Keys. API keys only provide access to GovTribe MCP. They are not general GovTribe API keys and do not grant access to other integrations such as Zapier.
The API Keys table lists active MCP keys that have not expired or been revoked.
| Column | What it provides |
|---|---|
| User | The GovTribe user who created the key. |
| Name | The name entered when the key was created. |
| Created | The date the key was created. |
| Expires | The date the key expires. |
| Revoke key | Removes the key so integrations using it stop working. |
Account owners can see active MCP API keys created by account members. Non-owner users see only their own keys. Account owners can revoke any listed account member key; non-owner users can revoke only their own keys.
Create an API key
Use Create Key to open Create API Key. Enter a Key Name, such as the AI tool or workflow that will use the key, then choose Create Key.
New MCP API keys expire after one year. After GovTribe creates the key, it shows the key one time. Store it immediately because GovTribe will not show it again after you close the window.
Developer setup also starts from the GovTribe MCP page: visit https://govtribe.com/account-mcp, enable MCP access if needed, choose Create Key, and store the key when it is shown. For API, CLI, and MCP Inspector setup, see GovTribe MCP for Developers.
Revoke an API key
Use Revoke key when a key should no longer be used. GovTribe asks you to confirm the change and warns that integrations using the key will stop working immediately.
After a key is revoked, it is removed from the table and can no longer be used for GovTribe MCP access. Create a new key if you need to reconnect the external workflow.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | What to check |
|---|---|
| API keys are not visible | Credits may not be enabled for the account. Open Credits to review credit access. |
| A connection stopped working | The key may have expired or been revoked, credits may be disabled, or the AI tool may need to reconnect through GovTribe. Published apps and connectors reconnect inside the AI tool; API, CLI, IDE, and MCP testing clients may need a new API key. |
| ChatGPT does not show the GovTribe app | Open Settings, select Apps, and browse the app directory for GovTribe. If it still is not available, your workspace owner or admin may need to enable the app. |
| ChatGPT shows Connect as unavailable | The app may be unavailable because of plan, region, or workspace settings. Ask your ChatGPT workspace admin to review app availability. |
| ChatGPT connects but does not use GovTribe | Add GovTribe from the ChatGPT app picker or mention GovTribe in your prompt when apps are available. |
| Claude does not show the GovTribe connector | Open Connectors, search the connector directory for GovTribe, and confirm your Claude workspace allows connectors. |
| Microsoft 365 Copilot does not show the GovTribe agent | Open All agents or Agent Store and search for GovTribe. If it still does not appear, your Microsoft 365 admin may need to make the agent available. |
| Codex does not list GovTribe tools | Confirm the GovTribe MCP API key environment variable is available to Codex, run codex mcp list, and restart the Codex session before testing again. |
| A newly announced GovTribe MCP tool does not appear | Refresh the connected AI application or update connector permissions. See Update your AI application after a GovTribe MCP update. |
| Gemini web does not show a custom MCP option | Gemini web does not currently support custom MCP configuration. Use supported API or command-line workflows instead. |
