Connect GovTribe MCP to Claude

Connect the GovTribe remote connector in Claude so Claude can use GovTribe MCP in conversations.

Use the GovTribe remote connector in Claude when you want Claude to use GovTribe data while it answers questions, builds structured reports, or creates visual artifacts. Claude can use GovTribe MCP to research opportunities, awards, vendors, agencies, market activity, and workspace records from a Claude conversation.

Before you start

You need:

  • A GovTribe account with access to GovTribe MCP.
  • GovTribe credits enabled for your account. See Credits if the GovTribe MCP page says credits must be enabled.
  • A Claude account or workspace that allows connectors. Some Claude workspaces require an owner or admin to install or enable connectors.

Claude's GovTribe setup uses a remote web connector from Claude's connector directory. It is not a local Claude Desktop extension, and it does not require you to edit claude_desktop_config.json.

For general remote connector behavior, see Anthropic's custom connectors using remote MCP documentation.

Connect from Claude

Open Claude and add GovTribe from the Claude connector directory.

Open Claude connectors. Go to Claude connectors.

Open the connector directory. Choose Add connector or open the connector directory.

Select Connectors. Use the Connectors section in the directory.

Search for GovTribe. Search for GovTribe.

Install GovTribe. Select the + or Install control on the GovTribe connector.

Open the installed connector. After GovTribe is installed, select GovTribe under Not connected.

Start the connection. Choose Connect.

Sign in to GovTribe. Sign in if prompted. If you are already signed in, Claude opens the GovTribe authorization request directly.

Review the authorization request. Claude asks for permission to use GovTribe's MCP server.

Allow access. Choose Allow to finish connecting GovTribe to Claude.

After the connection is complete, Claude returns to the GovTribe connector page. GovTribe moves into the connected connectors list, and Claude shows GovTribe's tool permissions. These settings control whether Claude can use a GovTribe tool automatically, ask for approval before using it, or block it.

GovTribe is available from Claude conversations where connectors are supported. Start a new Claude chat and ask Claude to use GovTribe for public-sector research, market analysis, or workspace-specific follow-up.

Claude Desktop can use remote web connectors after the connector is added to your Claude account. Local desktop extensions are a separate Claude Desktop mechanism and are not the GovTribe connector setup.

What Claude can do with GovTribe

The GovTribe connector lets Claude work with GovTribe public-sector data from your conversation. Use it for questions such as:

  • Find federal opportunities related to a market, agency, keyword, or vendor.
  • Summarize a vendor's federal contracting activity.
  • Compare agencies, vendors, awards, or opportunity activity.
  • Build structured market research summaries, charts, and visual reports.
  • Review workspace records such as pipelines, pursuits, stages, and tasks when your account has access.

GovTribe MCP usage is credit-based. If you do not use the GovTribe connector, it does not consume GovTribe credits.
