About this opportunity
Columbus Consolidated Government is seeking bids on a minimum of 30, but not to exceed 40, side loader 31-yard refuse truck bodies manufactured to fit Peterbilt 520 Dual Steer cab and chassis, with bids due July 20, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. via DemandStar under RFB No. 22-0042. This is a re-bid; mandatory equipment demonstrations will be conducted at the sanitation yard at 1400 Cusseta Road in Columbus, Georgia after bid receipt, with award made to the lowest, responsible, responsive bidder achieving the highest demonstration score.
Scope requires chain lift mechanisms (not hydraulic cylinders) with lifting and gripping mechanisms mounted directly to chassis frame rails. LED FMVSS #108 clearance lights, strobe lights, and reflectors complying with federal and state ICC Motor Vehicle Safety Standards are mandatory. Either full-eject or dump body configurations are acceptable. A 3-year or 36,000-mile manufacturer's warranty covers all warranty work provided on-site or at a service center within a 150-mile radius of Columbus. Vendors must maintain a minimum of $100,000 in parts inventory at the designated service center location.
Peterbilt chassis delivery is estimated at 120 days. Addendum No. Seven introduces American Rescue Plan (ARP) federal funding reporting requirements and Davis-Bacon Act prevailing wage certification. Vendors must either certify Davis-Bacon Act compliance or provide detailed employee classification and wage-rate information. A project labor agreement or, absent one, a detailed project continuity plan addressing labor supply, dispute mitigation, workplace safety, and wage competitiveness is required. Vendors are queried regarding local-hire utilization.
Samsom Equipment Company, based in Stonecrest, Georgia, was awarded the contract at a unit price of $159,741.77 and total contract price of $6,389,670.80. All vendors must acknowledge receipt of all eight addenda with sealed bid submission; failure to do so renders proposals incomplete.
