About this opportunity
Salt Lake City Corporation is requesting bids for fencing supplies and installation services on a citywide, as-needed basis under RFB SLCI27012, with bids due August 14, 2026. Award will be made to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder.
The scope encompasses permanent fencing materials and installation (6-foot commercial chain link, posts, rails, and site preparation including utility marking and debris clearing); fabrication of custom gates and frames; temporary fencing panel setup and teardown for events, potentially outside business hours and on weekends; material delivery; written cost estimates; and site restoration. The contractor must maintain adequate inventory to supply most products from stock and make reasonable efforts to source unavailable items locally. All work requires compliance with underground utility marking protocols, UOSH, EPA, NFPA, and UDOT standards, and submission of a comprehensive safety program for City approval. The contractor is responsible for obtaining all required permits. All products must carry a minimum one-year warranty from final payment date. Custom fabrication and specification assistance are provided at no charge.
Bidders must submit pricing through Bonfire for permanent fencing installation (chain link, posts, rails, core drilling, rock/concrete conditions, old fence removal) at estimated volumes; temporary fencing panels; and hourly labor rates (foreman, helper, truck and tools, tractor/digging rental). All costs are all-inclusive of materials, labor, supervision, insurance, transportation, delivery, and fuel with no additional charges permitted. Prices are firm for the first contract year; annual adjustments thereafter may be requested up to the lesser of three percent or the Producer Price Index increase, with 30 days' notice required.
The contract term is five years with a four-month extension option exercisable by the City through mutual written amendment. The City is non-exclusive and may procure fencing from other sources. The contractor must maintain workers' compensation insurance; commercial general liability of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate with the City as additional insured; and commercial automobile liability of $1,000,000 combined single limit. Work performed at Salt Lake City International Airport requires separate compliance with FAA subordination, airport security identification badges, fingerprint-based criminal history checks, and TSA security training for all personnel. Either party may terminate with 30 days' written notice, or the City may terminate for cause with seven days to cure.
