About this opportunity
The City of Atlanta, on behalf of its Department of Public Works (DPW) and Atlanta Fire Rescue Department (AFRD), is soliciting prequalified service providers for fire apparatus and vehicle repair, maintenance, and replacement parts through a multi-step sealed bid, with a due date of November 26, 2026. The decisive eligibility filter is geographic: providers must maintain a factory-authorized service center within a 175-mile radius of downtown Atlanta.
The scope covers routine maintenance, emergency repairs, warranty work, and supply of replacement parts meeting or exceeding OEM specifications for approximately 300 firefighting and public safety vehicles, including pumpers, ladder trucks, aircraft rescue firefighting units, ambulances, hazmat units, and command units. All fire apparatus work must follow the current NFPA 1911 standard for inspection, maintenance, testing, and retirement of in-service automotive fire apparatus. Prequalification requires demonstrated experience, service capacity, technical capability, qualified personnel, facilities, and resources. Providers must staff minimum service hours Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and return vehicles within 48–72 hours of stated turnaround. Saturday service and 24/7 service are optional bid items with separate pricing. Parts may come from vendor inventory or OEM-authorized suppliers with anticipated 48–72-hour lead times, and OFS may supply parts when vendor procurement is delayed by shipping or supply constraints. Named fleet manufacturers include Rosenbauer, Pierce, Spartan, Oshkosh, KME, Cummins, Ford, Rivian, Freightliner, Chevy, and International.
Purchase Order is the sole payment method, with separate billing accounts established by OFS location as needed. Vendors must provide itemized quotes and cost estimates before work begins, and invoices must detail equipment identification numbers, labor rates, hours worked, manufacturer suggested list prices, and applicable discounts. Vendors must supply service, parts, and repair warranty documentation and bear responsibility for damage to City equipment during service.
The notice was posted October 22, 2026. Prequalification precedes the Invitation for Bid, and a Pre-Solicitation Conference will be noticed and held to provide details and address questions. The attached scope of work is a draft (Water Draft_DPW_AFRD Repairs Scope of Work_10.pdf).
