About this opportunity

The Michigan Department of Transportation is seeking proposals for intermediate warranty services on permanent generators serving 99 pump stations across Genesee, Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne counties, with proposals due August 25, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. EST and questions due by August 19, 2026. This is a Notice of Intent to Negotiate with a single intended source — Wolverine Power Systems as the sole authorized Generac service dealer — and bidders may challenge the single-source designation by the August 25 deadline by submitting written evidence of equivalent products or services.

The scope covers warranty maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs for Generac industrial standby generators and automatic transfer switches across three job numbers (213922, 216564, 217122). Generators range from 0–400 kW (86 stations), 400–750 kW (9 stations), and 750 kW and above (4 stations), operating on natural gas, propane, or diesel fuel. Services include 24/7/365 emergency support with one-hour on-site response during power outages, paid routine site visits, staff training on generator and transfer system checks, and parts and materials per warranty guidelines. Work involves tiered maintenance protocols spanning extended run-time checks (every 24 continuous operating hours), Level 1A (50 hours/3 months), Level 1 (monthly/24-hour), Level 2 (semi-annual/100-hour), Level 3 (annual/200-hour), and Level 4 (bi-annual/500-hour) intervals, with load-bank testing required to verify full-rated capacity compliance with NFPA-110 standards.

The contract covers Generac's 5-Year Extended Limited Warranty (parts, labor, limited travel during years 1–5; limited parts and labor years 6–10). The pricing structure includes monthly optional services at $1,000, one-time services at $600, and other tiered rates with a grand total of $38,400 across the pricing schedule. Fourteen generators are currently under an existing DTMB maintenance contract with Preventive Maintenance Technologies; the new Wolverine contract may expand to additional sites. The intended provider is Wolverine Power Systems, 46968 Liberty Drive, Wixom, Michigan. Bidders must complete the Vendor Questions Worksheet certifying Michigan tax compliance, Clean Corporate Citizen status, labor law adherence, prevailing wage registration where applicable, and non-Iran linkage under Public Act 517 of 2012, and must provide at least three project examples from the past five years.
