About this opportunity

The City of Bradenton is seeking a contractor to execute the Fairfield Acres Drainage Improvements project, a comprehensive infrastructure enhancement initiative located in Manatee County, Florida. The procurement involves construction of approximately 760 linear feet of storm sewer infrastructure, including storm structures, piping, curb inlets, manholes, concrete curb and sidewalk, grading, milling, and resurfacing along 25th Avenue West. The project's primary objectives are to improve stormwater management and roadway infrastructure in the Fairfield Acres neighborhood, with specific deliverables including installation of 15-inch A2000 storm sewer pipe, replacing existing curbs, constructing manholes, and reconstructing roadway sections with 8-inch base course and 1.5-inch asphalt pavement. The bid (IFB #25-013MK) was released on April 3, 2025, with responses due by May 5, 2025, at 2:30 pm, and a non-mandatory pre-bid meeting scheduled for April 10, 2025, at 10:00 am. The contract duration is set at 180 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed, with liquidated damages of $500 per day for delays in substantial completion or final acceptance.

While no specific set-aside designations or restrictions on respondents were explicitly detailed, bidders must be registered to do business in Florida and comply with local procurement regulations. Contractors will be required to submit various forms including a bid bond, contractor qualification forms, and certifications regarding scrutinized companies and drug-free workplace compliance. A cash allowance of $2,500 is included for quality control testing, and the project will be funded through the City of Bradenton's public works budget. While no incumbent vendor was identified, the project requires integration with existing neighborhood infrastructure and adherence to Florida Department of Transportation specifications. The bid documents include a detailed price proposal with line items across general, site work, drainage improvements, and roadway improvements categories, though a specific total project budget was not explicitly stated in the provided documents. Potential bidders will need to demonstrate technical expertise in municipal infrastructure construction, particularly in stormwater management and roadway reconstruction.
