About this opportunity
Klein Independent School District is requesting electronic proposals for child nutrition and food services kitchen equipment to renovate and upgrade the Epps Island Elementary kitchen and support areas, with proposals due June 26, 2026 at 2:00 PM through the Bonfire purchasing system and questions due June 19, 2026.
The scope comprises furnishing a complete foodservice equipment package including a walk-in refrigeration system with shelving and panels, walk-in freezer assembly, nine heavy-duty dunnage racks, stainless steel corner guards, a pass-through window, disposer with pre-rinse faucet, custom stainless steel serving counter, high-temperature warewash dishmachine, and two welded vent cowl ducts. The vendor must supply all product data, submittals, shop drawings, coordination, and field verification in accordance with Section 11 40 00 of the specification book and project drawings prepared by PBK Architects and Surcana Food Service Design. Installation, field welding, startup, testing, and trade construction are coordinated by others unless explicitly included in the awarded vendor's scope. Existing equipment — milk cooler case and cash registers — are owner-furnished.
Klein ISD encourages participation from HUB, MWBE, SBE, and veteran-owned businesses as prime contractors and subcontractors when federal funds are expended. The District requires all vendors to obtain a current criminal background check for covered employees with student contact, carry general liability insurance with minimum $1,000,000 per occurrence limits, be licensed to do business in Texas and Harris County, and submit Form 1295 (Texas Certificate of Interested Parties) electronically. All pricing must be firm and fixed for the one-year contract period and include equipment, freight, delivery, and all associated costs.
The contract term runs from August 11, 2026 through June 30, 2027 with no renewal or extension options. Award will be made by the Klein ISD Board of Trustees on August 10, 2026. Evaluation will use a 100-point scale: purchase price (50 points), vendor reputation (10 points), quality (10 points), extent of meeting district needs (15 points), long-term cost (10 points), and vendor resources (5 points). Monique Williams, Coordinator – Business Support Services, is the contact at mwilliams12@kleinisd.net.
