About this opportunity

The City of Auburn Hills, located in Michigan, is seeking sealed bids for a comprehensive pond dredging project involving two distinct water basins: the Fieldstone Golf Course Pond and the Auburn Hills Public Library Basin. The procurement encompasses approximately 3,385 cubic yards of dredging, with 2,785 cubic yards to be removed from the golf course pond and 600 cubic yards from the library basin, which also includes 0.2 acres of clearing and grading. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for March 10, 2025, at 11:00 am at Fieldstone Golf Club, with sealed bids due by 11:00 am on March 21, 2025, at the City Clerk's office located at 1827 North Squirrel Road. The project timeline anticipates a start date of July 7, 2025, with substantial completion expected by February 13, 2026, and final project completion by May 4, 2027. Bidders must submit a bid security of at least 5% of their bid amount, with potential liquidated damages of $1,500 per day for delays beyond specified completion dates. The contract will be awarded based on unit prices for various items including dredging, material handling, erosion control, and restoration work.

The procurement does not explicitly specify set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. Bidders will need to comply with environmental regulations, including obtaining necessary permits from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), which imposes specific work restrictions such as limitations on in-water activities between March 1 and June 30 to protect fish spawning periods. While no incumbent vendors are mentioned, the project requires careful implementation of environmental protections, including the use of turbidity curtains and adherence to strict sediment removal and disposal protocols. The comprehensive bid documents suggest a project budget that likely falls within the mid-six-figure range, though an exact budget is not specified. Contractors will need to demonstrate technical expertise in environmental dredging, landscape restoration, and municipal infrastructure projects, with specific capabilities in managing complex water basin restoration and sediment removal in sensitive ecological environments.
