About this opportunity
The City of Sandy Springs, Georgia is requesting bids on construction of the CDBG Northwood Drive Sidewalk and Pedestrian Crossing project under ITB 26-051 T0033-08, with bids due July 7, 2026 at 2:00 PM EST and a non-mandatory pre-bid conference on June 11, 2026 at 11:00 AM Eastern Time. The project is funded through a Community Development Block Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and carries two restrictive qualifications: the prime contractor must be GDOT-prequalified and must self-perform at least 51% of the contract value.
The scope includes constructing two signalized mid-block pedestrian crossings with rectangular rapid flashing beacons; replacing 316 linear feet of existing sidewalk with new 6-foot-wide sidewalk; reconstructing twelve curb ramps to meet ADA standards; and installing eight new pedestrian lights along the south side of Northwood Drive. All work must comply with ADA accessibility standards and Section 3 requirements.
The contractor must commence work within ten calendar days of Notice to Proceed and achieve final completion within 270 calendar days. Liquidated damages are assessed at $100 per day for delays in substantial completion and $500 per day for delays in final completion. The project is subject to the Build America, Buy America Act, requiring all iron, steel, manufactured products, and construction materials to be produced in the United States unless an approved waiver is obtained. Davis-Bacon Act prevailing wage decision GA20260001 (effective January 2, 2026) and Contract Work Hours and Safety Standards Act requirements apply. Performance and payment bonds are required if the bid price exceeds $100,000. Progress payments are made monthly at 90% of completed work value with retainage released once 50% of contract value is completed and work progress is satisfactory. Questions are due June 15, 2026 at 5:00 PM.
