About this opportunity
The Douglasville Douglas County Water and Sewer Authority has issued an Invitation for Bids (IFB # 301) for the Chapel Hill Road 8-inch Water Line Relocation Project, with bids due on May 28, 2025. This turn-key infrastructure project requires a qualified contractor to complete a comprehensive water line installation and relocation effort within public right-of-way. The project scope includes installing approximately 6,450 linear feet of 8-inch push-on ductile iron pipe water line, 750 linear feet of restrained joint water line, sixteen fire hydrants, thirty 8-inch gate valves, valve markers and boxes, one 8-inch pressure reducing valve, and 700 linear feet of 16-inch steel casing. Additional work involves renewing forty service lines, relocating one water meter and vault, and reconstructing twelve asphalt and five concrete driveways. The Authority will provide the 8-inch ductile iron pipe, while the contractor must supply all other necessary appurtenances and materials. All required rights-of-way, easements, and federal, state, and local permits have been pre-obtained for the project.
The solicitation does not explicitly mention specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged business enterprises. The project appears to be open to qualified contractors capable of performing the comprehensive water infrastructure work. While no incumbent vendor information is provided, the contract suggests a significant infrastructure improvement project with potential substantial budget implications. All work will be performed within public right-of-way, indicating a municipal infrastructure enhancement initiative. The project requires minimal involvement from Authority personnel, suggesting the selected contractor must be fully equipped to manage all aspects of the water line relocation and installation independently. Though the exact budget is not specified in the available documentation, the extensive scope of work—including significant linear footage of pipe installation, multiple hydrants, valves, and infrastructure reconstructions—implies a potentially substantial contract value for the selected bidder.
