About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration (VA) is seeking a contractor to complete a comprehensive renovation of Building 36 at the Canandaigua VA Medical Center located in Canandaigua, New York. The project involves a complete interior renovation of the first floor, including minor room reconfiguration, finish replacement, mechanical systems upgrades, and site parking additions. Contractors must utilize the VISN 2 Autodesk Build Construction management platform for all project communications and are required to complete mandatory platform training within 12 calendar days of access being granted. The total project duration is specified as 240 days, which includes all processes from submittal approvals to final punch list completion. Bids are due by May 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM EST, with a virtual bid opening at 11:30 AM EST, and all bidders must comply with extensive VA design standards, national building codes, and safety regulations.

The contract is initially not set aside for any specific business type, though the solicitation indicates potential preference for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs). The renovated building will serve as a swing space, with VA police anticipated to be the first occupants. The project involves converting a portion of a campus building that currently has mixed occupancy, with specific work including the replacement of a security server and adherence to strict patient care environment requirements. Contractors must maintain minimal disruption to existing medical center operations, keeping sounds and vibrations to a minimum and potentially performing off-tour work to minimize impact on veterans and employees. The renovation will transform approximately 250 square feet of space, with specific attention to asbestos abatement, mechanical infrastructure updates, and creating a functional police station within the existing medical center campus.
