About this opportunity
This solicitation seeks a contractor to reconstruct over 4,000 linear feet of the Ideal Cove Trail located in the Tongass National Forest in Alaska. The U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service will evaluate proposals and award a firm fixed-price contract to reconstruct segments of the existing trail, install two optional rest areas, and clarify signage installation details. Evaluation will consider technical approach, past performance, key personnel, and price, with technical factors more important than cost. Proposals are due by December 15, 2021.
This opportunity is set aside for total small business and will be conducted under NAICS code 237990 with a place of performance in Petersburg, AK. The estimated value is between $500,000 to $1 million to demolish and reconstruct over 0.8 miles of the existing trail with new aggregate surfacing, structures, and drainage features between January and November 2022. Incumbent contractors may include those currently providing trail construction services to the Tongass National Forest.

This is Amendment #0001 to Solicitation 1240BJ22R0001
Updated Attachments have been added to this solicitation
This solicitation is not extended and responses are due 12/15/2021 by 4pm PST
This amendment updates all contract documents to eliminate Option Item 1, replacement of Hill Lake Bridge and related rest area and trail reconstruction. Option Item 2 which installs two rest areas at midpoints in Ideal Cove Trail has been re-numbered as Option Item 1. See attached, 57 pages.
This amendment also clarifies installation details for Double Post Sign Base (Sheet 14 of Drawings), clarifies depth of gravel pad and sign location for Saltwater Trailhead (Sheet 15 of Drawings), corrects the Government’s intent to award to best value rather than lowest price technically acceptable, and answers one question from the 11/30/2021 pre-proposal meeting regarding gravel size (see attached, 1 page).
Amended items in Drawings are indicated by a bubble outline accompanied by a triangle symbol with the number “1” inside and “Update” below.
