About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration (VA VHA) is seeking a service-disabled veteran-owned small business to provide sterile processing service (SPS) water testing for the South Texas Veterans Healthcare System. The procurement focuses on testing, maintenance, and repair of sterile processing water systems, with critical requirements stemming from the updated ANSI/AAMI ST 108 standard. The new standard mandates water sampling at every point of use, representing a significant expansion of previous testing protocols. Potential contractors must submit detailed information including business name, address, point of contact, SAM registration details, and specific business characteristics by April 4, 2025 at 9:00 AM Central Time. The VA is conducting market research to determine contractor availability and will use the submitted information to refine their final procurement strategy.
The contract is specifically set aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBC) under NAICS code 221310 for Water Supply and Irrigation Systems, with a secondary PSC category of Q901 for Healthcare Environmental Cleaning. While specific award values are not disclosed in the pre-solicitation notice, the VA is seeking to understand market pricing and contractor capabilities for comprehensive water system testing and maintenance. The solicitation covers facilities within the South Texas Veterans Healthcare System, with the procurement process targeting fiscal year 2025 implementation. Interested businesses must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and demonstrate capability to meet the enhanced water testing requirements outlined in the AAMI ST108:2023 Standard. The VA will use the submitted information to assess market readiness and potential contractor qualifications for this critical healthcare infrastructure service.
Notice text
South Texas Veterans Healthcare System facilities have Sterile Processing Systems requirement for testing, maintenance, and repair of sterile processing water systems. SPS is a critical part of any Hospital as it ensures all clinical departments have a readily available supply of sterile equipment. One of the key pieces of equipment supporting any SPS is the direct critical water supply to SPS personnel and equipment.
Due to an update to ANSI/AAMI ST 108 new requirements were added that now need to be fulfilled.
