About this opportunity
The Office of the Secretary of Defense, specifically the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), has issued a Special Notice for the SOF Modernization Industry Engagement (SMIE) event scheduled for 9-10 July 2025 in the National Capital Region. This voluntary industry collaboration aims to identify emerging technologies that address classified problem statements relevant to Special Operations Forces (SOF). The event is designed as a technical and strategic engagement, not a formal solicitation or commitment to funding. Participation requires contractors to have either a Secure Internet Protocol Router (SIPR) or Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS) email address. The notice falls under the NAICS category of Other Scientific and Technical Consulting Services, indicating its focus on advanced technological solutions.
Contractors interested in participating must submit their company name to specific email addresses by 5 Jun 2025 to receive classified problem statements and submission instructions. The engagement process involves comprehensive proposal assessment by SOF operational, technical, and programmatic subject matter experts, with a commitment to providing feedback to all participants. Selected proposals may progress to in-person oral presentations on 9 or 10 July 2025, with potential outcomes including government-sponsored demonstrations, funded contracts, Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADA), or Vendor Loan Agreements. All participants will be bound by procurement integrity laws and Non-Disclosure Agreements, with the government ensuring the protection of proprietary data. The ultimate objective is to identify and potentially partner with industry innovators who can provide cutting-edge technological solutions for Special Operations Forces.
