About this opportunity
The Department of Energy Office of Science is seeking to procure two robotic welding systems for use in the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) project at Brookhaven National Laboratory. The systems must have capabilities for MIG welding, including seam finding and tracking, to create mechanical sealing interfaces on over 2.5 miles of welds on the EIC's Cryostat Interconnect Assemblies. The technical evaluation criteria focus on the offeror's design, technical capabilities, prior experience, safety, manufacturing, and quality assurance. Proposals are due by November 25, 2024, and the award is estimated on December 10, 2024. Pricing is required on AMS-Form-043, and the contract will be a Best Value procurement with technical factors more important than price.
This is an unrestricted competition, with no set-aside designations. The solicitation references two existing contractors, Brookhaven Science Associates, LLC, the management and operating contractor for Brookhaven National Lab, and the Department of Energy, the federal agency issuing the contract. The total requirement is for two identical robotic welding systems, to be delivered to the Electron-Ion Collider facility in Upton, New York within 30 weeks of contract award.
