About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Global Strike Command is seeking a firm-fixed-price contractor to perform five-year, 3000-hour boom disassembly and inspection services for three National Crane Model 1100 cranes at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana. The required services include complete boom dismantling to inspect extend and retract cables, sheaves, and pins, with mandatory replacement of extend and retract cables, wear pads, and shims using OEM-approved parts. The contractor must also lubricate the boom, perform function and load tests, and provide a one-year/unlimited mileage warranty on all work performed. The procurement will be evaluated using the lowest-price technically acceptable methodology, with the government planning to evaluate the lowest three offers that meet the specified technical requirements. The solicitation was posted on June 10, 2025, with responses due by June 16, 2025, allowing contractors only six days to prepare their proposals.
Despite the federal contract opportunity description indicating no set-aside is used, the attached solicitation document reveals this procurement is actually set aside for Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) concerns. The three cranes to be serviced are identified by specific Air Force registration numbers 08D00449, 08D01024, and 11D00080, with corresponding serial numbers 294460, 295285, and 296434 respectively. The contract has a total estimated value of $12,500,000 and includes line items for both the primary inspection services and potential unforeseen repairs that may be discovered during the inspection process. The period of performance runs from June 19, 2025, through October 31, 2025, providing approximately four and a half months to complete all required services. All work will be performed at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana, with the 341st Missile Wing Logistics Readiness Squadron Vehicle Maintenance responsible for inspecting the cranes before acceptance, while the purchaser will handle vehicle delivery and pickup from the repair facility.
