About this opportunity
Brookhaven Science Associates, LLC seeks quotations for permanent magnet blocks for hybrid dipoles and quadrupoles, with proposals due August 31, 2026. This procurement awards to the two lowest-priced responsive and responsible offerors meeting all technical requirements—a split award structure distinct from typical single-award competitions.
Place of performance is Upton, New York. The NAICS code is 332999, All Other Miscellaneous Fabricated Metal Product Manufacturing, with a 750-employee small business size standard. This is full and open competition with no set-aside.
The contractor must manufacture and deliver 100 hybrid dipole permanent magnet blocks (part LT-SR-MG-PMQH-3001) and 68 hybrid focusing and defocusing blocks (part LT-SR-MG-PMQH-4001), all from Samarium Cobalt (Sm2Co17) material with specified magnetic parameters: remanent flux density of 1.14 Tesla minimum, coercive field of 1740 kA/m minimum, and maximum energy product of 240 kJ/m³ minimum, all measured at 20°C. Each block requires laser-etched magnetization direction arrows and unique serial numbers conforming to provided technical drawings. Geometric and magnetization angle tolerances must comply with drawings; segmented and bonded construction is permitted if necessary. All blocks must be packaged to prevent chipping and demagnetization, and the contractor must submit dimensional inspection reports with individually measured values traceable by serial identifier and magnetic material test certifications one week prior to shipping authorization.
Delivery is anticipated 18 weeks from award to Building 98, Rochester Street, Upton, New York, FOB Destination with freight prepaid. This is firm fixed price with Net 10 payment terms for small businesses or Net 30 for large businesses. Pricing must be all-inclusive in U.S. dollars, including freight, import duties, and customs costs. Questions are due July 29, 2026. All offerors must be registered in SAM with a Unique Entity ID or, if foreign, must complete AMS-Form-050. The procurement is subject to FAR Part 25 Buy American Act; offerors must identify whether proposed items are domestic or foreign end products. Upon award, successful offerors must submit Vendor ACH Authorization Form, W-9 (domestic) or W-8 (foreign).
